I mean. If they WERE to even help with bunions, a singular day isn’t going to be enough to fix multiple years worth of damage…

As a GMC at a Stater Bros, never walk in a store barefoot or sometimes even in sandals. There is broken glass everywhere and glass bottles commonly fall on people. One time, a large glass bottle of Valentina fell on a lady's foot and cut her pinky toe open. Needless to say she didn't have a good time and since I was on the next isle, I had to get her bandaged up and clean up the mess.

Actually the severity of bunions CAN be reduced without surgery. There's actually evidence that, if the proper muscles are built up in the foot, that the degree of the bunion can actually get a lot better. The bone never fully goes, but can get ground away by the joint as it settles in its new position. Or, if the degree of the toe improves drastically, you can get the bone shaved away without the need for toe realignment.

I've had bunions since I was 5 and all my life I've worn the shoes I was "supposed" to wear. I'm 24 now and saw a surgeon who told me specifically NOT to do surgery as it only lasts 15-20 years before I'd inevitably need surgery again.

I've massively reduced the pain of my feet by wearing toe spreader silicone pads (like Correct Toes) and wearing barefoot shoes.

I used to not be able to walk without intense joint pain in my bunions or twisting my ankles. Like it got to the point where I didn't want to walk anymore because everything hurt way too bad. My hips and knees were starting to become awful as well. I used to get horrible plantar fasciitis too.

Now I do still get pain, but it's massively reduced. My bunions rarely hurt me, if ever. My knees are better and so are my hips. My plantar fasciitis is still there a little bit, but I mostly get pain in my actual foot muscles instead now. And if I rest my feet, I'm good to go again after a couple of hours.

For example, I recently did a 9 mile walk in my barefoot shoes and was, (I'll admit) in agony by the end. If I was wearing hiking boots, I'd have been a little bit sore but still comfortable enough. In my barefoot shoes I was in agony. HOWEVER, when I got home and rested for an hour or two, I then couple walk again with zero pain - and walked another 2 miles that evening. If I'd have been wearing my hiking boots - as soon as I'd have got home I wouldn't have been able to walk and then I'd have been bed bound for a couple of days. This was my usual protocol after a hikel.

That's how bad it used to be for me.

I can't wait for my feet to get stronger and to be able to walk even further than I've ever been able to.

If anyone's struggling, definitely give Vivobarefoots a try and use them with correct toes. I've never been so comfortable in my feet

In over 40 years as a scrub tech in surgery, I assisted in hundreds of bunionectomies. All but 2 were women. The exceptions were a man who had worn pointy-toed cowboy boots all his adult life, and a gay, black, gospel-singing hospital orderly who wore pointy-toed Italian shoes.

Bunion braces are good to help alleviate pain for those of us that can’t afford or risk having surgery.

Please inform people that bunion surgery can cause permanent pain that you didn't have before. Informed consent is all I'm asking.

Walking barefoot could also help it stretches out your toes and make you have a flatter but it shouldn't get rid of your arches though so you don't have to worry about that it just makes your toes put out more

Just get the surgery, you’re super young and will recover very fast. I had both my feet done in my 40’s, back to back. 12 week recovery. Best thing I ever did. No more pain, my feet look amazing!

Imagine cancer patient saying the doctor, "Your medicine didn't work in 24 hours, so I will go with surgery."

Bone remodeling takes time, and a lot of it. Bones adjust to how you use them over time. Bunions are sue to tight fitting shoes that squish your toes together. So either switch shoes and use stretching as part of your daily routine or have surgery and probably still not fix the core problem.

I had to have a surgery for the same issue when I was 14. It was so painful to walk, I can't even imagine the horrible pain that that device inflicts on his poor foot

My mom has the same problem with her feet and she was in pain for like months and years. She also tried out this thingy but it just hurt her so bad. She's getting surgery on Jan 4 and I'm so happy for her :)

How to prevent bunions (aka bound feet):
-Wear shoes with a width that enables you to move your toes without overlap.
-Find a size that fits the measurements of your feet.on't fit your feet into a size.
-Shop for shoes after walking all day. Body heat and pressure expand your feet. Your shoes should match the expanded size.

Other problems solved by following the three steps above:
-Leg and foot muscles are more relaxed
-Less chances of twisted ankles because you have an even distribution of mass
-Money is not wasted on surgery or orthopedic products, such as ankle and foot wraps/supports
