I just washed my deck with dish soap. Looks awesome! It came out better than last season when I paid to have it pressure washed. Money saved! 😀

This dude gets it. I clean my scummy, winter beaten, Michigan pine deck with Dawn dish soap, deck brush, a bucket of warm water and a garden hose. Its not all that hard and costs basically nothing. You DO NOT need a pressure washer.

Yep, researching this stuff always pays off. When I read about some of the caustic cleaners people use I knew I did not want any of that. I decided to experiment and took my good old white vinegar. Wiped down the deck with straight white vinegar and the result is great. I am always soooo happy when I can get something cleaned without toxic chemicals.

Now I do have to say that carpet was placed onto the deck for many years, cheap carpet too, but that too protected the wood tremendously. I was right, the carpeting makes a huge difference, or whatever other covering you choose and the vinegar made the wood look so nice and freshly cleaned. Even I was surprised by the results.
We get bombarded every day with so many chemicals, I do not want that at home too.

I read Oxiclean works super good too (it’s also, inexpensive, a common household cleaner and non-toxic)
Although bleach products will get it clean too, I also read bleach products destroy wood badly.
