this really shows just how good of a smith Ben actually is, he made in 9 hours a damascus sword substantially better than what most of the smiths on forged in fire can achieve in 4 days. That being said his competitor was very impressive as well.

Ben's efficiency in crafting, and problem solving is astonishing. Being a former undefeated contestant to a judge on the show, Ben, to me, is still an underdog with skills second-to-none. May Ben remain undefeated.

I knew Ben had this one when his opponent forged the fuller in. You see, when you GRIND your fuller in, you remove some of the metal, this reduces the weight. When you FORGE your fuller in, you remove none of the metal, you just displace it and that keeps the weight the same. It was a good sword, but the weight and sheer mass and density of the blade gave it more destructive crushing force, and left it less efficient on cutting.

I have never before seen such honest competition. Everything is straight forward.
Is your blade lethal, does it cut, is it properly heat treated and tempered, is it good looking and finally does it do all these things better than the other persons. The winner is predictable on these items.
I really enjoy it.
