What I like about this show is that they will have the judges involved from time to time in forging. It seems to say, "Hey, we get it, and we don't push you harder than we would push ourselves."

The judges sword literally didn’t make the cut.

5:19 It always amazes me how accurate Doug is with his strikes. He cuts perfectly through the exact same opening he just made.

I understand the weight being a big issue. But they both took damage, and the contestants sword did better in the KEAL and cutting test. If anything it should be a draw.

Weird how people are so confused as to why J won. Claymores are over twice the size of this short sword but only weigh about 5-6 pounds, so the other guy's weighing a whopping 4 pounds was an issue. It cut deeper from all that extra weight but was unwieldy, uncomfortable, tiring, and potentially dangerous for your wrist weighing nearly as much as a two-handed sword but being meant to be used one-handed.

I think Tony won. His kill test was deeper. Tied on the durability, and won the cutting. Both contestants were given the same material and dimensions. 3 objective tests shown and Tony won 2 of them. The subjective test was the weight, they should have made weight an objective test if it was an issue. Awesome work both parties!

Judge needs to win i guess. He got outperformed in 2 tests

My dream: J Nielsen, Jason Knight, Ben Abbott and Dave Baker should compete against each other, and test each other's blades.

Wow stacked for the judges. Jay Nelson's short sword didn't cut at all

The judge definitely lost lol his blade was pretty much blunt ?🤣

I don’t think Jay won that fairly. Tony’s sword out performed Jay’s in the end, weight be damned

That was unfair. Jay's blade failed in the sharpness test horribly. Weight of the weapon is a personal choice of the person wielding it. But sharpness and cutting cannot be compromised.

Plus Jays handle did not have a mechanical fastener.

Jay’s sword wasn’t nearly as effective of a weapon, him winning is Bull

I see thats Jay’s blade had a good balance however, it was not sharp enough to cut. So it should fail the sharpness test.

Weight is major issue when forging knives or swords ... whomever turns in a heavy swords basically losing if the other guys swords not broken...

I always wanted to try making a canister using the carbide teeth from old saw blades

Jays blade didn’t cut the pig in half AND it didn’t cut the sand dummy and he still won?? I thought that was a clear case for the other dude for sure

That was ridiculous if it wouldn't have been a judge competing against him he would have won

A question for the judges: Out of all the prized blades which one would you personally take into battle?
