1:43 The new storage _does not_ have to be larger than the original device! Drag and drop the small partitions into the new drive, then when you drag and drop the largest partition, Macrium will resize it according to the space you have left. Last night I cloned a 250GB HDD to a 240GB SSD. I might note that the HDD had only ~40GB used, and this wouldn't work if the source drive has more data than the size of the destination drive, but you can easily clone a larger drive to a smaller drive.

Why, then, am I watching YT vids about Macrium? Because it left an entry for Macrium in the boot manager, a recovery option I think. Out of curiosity I selected it on my second reboot and it apparently messed with the cloned drive's boot sector. I cannot boot to the clone.

I have now used your video to clone two drives. This video is fantastic. Thank you so much!!

Good video, I'll have to test out that application myself since I do have to sometimes migrate an OS from one drive to another.

The fact you missed a crucial step to first partition/format the new drive is a problem. Made me and plenty others start over because of this.

Thanks for your time efficient vid. Very useful. My only criticism is that you did not address partition resizing when cloning to a larger drive. I had to find another video for that and then redo the entire process. No biggie though. All done now.

How do I avoid Macrium splitting my new SSD into 4 partitions when cloning windows? It's splitting the drive into a D, an E (Which is the windows install along with all other files on the old drive), a Recovery Partition and an Unallocated partition. I just need to know how to properly resize the partition when cloning. Thanks, bud!

Is there any particular reason why my cloned drive split into 2 letter drives? one named drive the other boot, did I only have to clone ntfs primary(the bigger size chunk that holds, data, program etc) or did I have to copy the fat32 with it in a particular way?

I am intend to clone from an aging hard drive to an unformatted SSD. Will Macrium format the SSD automatically? Or do I need to format it first?

Hi, I follow instructions to clone a SDD 128 (c:) to SSD 512 (e:); now I can see it cloned everything perfectly, but now I see e: as just 128 instead of 512. How can I see the extra space in my ssd 512 drive? thanks, -Ana
