I'm 62 and worked at high end steakhouses for years and trust me when I say you aren't even getting the steak you think you're buying at grocery stores anymore. They are taking cheaper cuts of meat and cutting them in the shape of higher quality if meat so you will think it's the real deal. A New York strip isn't even called that anymore. It's just called a Strip. It's NOT A REAL NEW YORK STRIP. It's a cheaper cut if meat in the same shape. Now if you want a T Bone they have the nerve to cut the bottom side peice off and sell it as a Filet mignon. That's the best part of a T Bone. It's supposed to have meat on both sides of the T. If you're going to spend spend your HARD EARNED MONEY do yourself a favor and go to a real butcher and get the real thing. It's the same price as grocery stores.

Dang. As someone who's bank account goes from three digits to two digits in hours (then gets strangled to avoid the single digit as long as possible), saying something like "a $14-per-pound cut of beef" is one hell of a reality break. I'm happy to get any cut of pork. Yet, thank you for the information and the presentation. Interesting to see how the rest of the world lives.

Wow, thanks for the heads up and education. My favorite 2 steaks are filet mignon and ribeye and then porterhouse so I can get a filet mignon. Thanks for the video, now I can save money👍

You can also get whats called tenderloin strips which are cut off the end of the filet. They are just as good as a filet and usually about $7-8 a lb.

Try chuck eye steak. They are hard to find because the butchers but them. And there are not many steaks on a cow.

Never been much of a fan of filet mignon or other similar cuts because of the very low fat content. Having the right amount of fat both enhances flavor because the flavonoids dissolve in the fats better and the melted fat enhances the moistness of the meat. The Ribeye is my personal favorite.

I get the Denver cut usually $5 for .58 lbs... i get to eat steak for less than McDonald's. FTW

Theirs another piece that's in the chuck eye area.. (not the chuck eye that is simillar) is this that piece?

chuck eye steak used to be $5.99 a lb and that was my go to fake ribeye. Now that same cut is $11.99 a lb
