I was hospitalized with anemia in my late twenties requiring 4 blood transfusions. When they sent me home they told me to be sure to take my iron pills with oatmeal and vit c tablets 💊

The real issue is how much milk kids drink. Calcium and iron also compete

It is possible to be anemic as a carnivore. Anemia can result from several factors, including:

1. Iron Absorption Issues: Even if your diet includes iron-rich meats, conditions like celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, or other gastrointestinal issues can impair iron absorption.
2. Vitamin Deficiencies: A lack of essential vitamins such as B12, which is found in animal products, or folate, which can still be insufficient due to absorption issues or other dietary imbalances.
3. Chronic Diseases: Conditions like kidney disease or chronic inflammation can lead to anemia regardless of diet.
4. Blood Loss: Gastrointestinal bleeding, often due to ulcers or other conditions, can cause anemia even in a carnivore.

I thought my psdt anemia was from the oxalates. Guess it was both oxalates and phytates.
Costco sells One Degree Organics ' Farmers We Know' Sprouted Oats. Glyphosate free sprouted oats. I wonder if the sprouting gets rid of most of the phytic acid. I dont eat oats, I feed them to my chickens. Phytic acid interferes with mineral and protein absorption for them too.

Does rice cause similar problems? Also is chicken acceptable for iron? Or does it have to be red meat?
