the spring loaded gate hinge is an awesome idea.

i’ve found table saw blades to have as much as 0.011” of run out. this is typical of less expensive blades because of the steel they use and the flattening standards so your method of checking for alignment is perfect.

i also like that fence alignment hack.
great video as usual.
they are a pleasure to watch because you speak clearly, you’re straight to the point, and no background noise or annoying music.

keepm coming !

Great idea for a featherboard. The price of magswitches in South Africa is beyond rediculous, so I need a different method of fixing the board to the table. Thanks for the great tips.

Love the fence check gauge at the end. I have just restored a startrite 275 saw made in 1972 which involved stripping the fence mechanism and powder coating the fence. I never felt if was right to the slot but as you say difficult to check...well until your video. Many thanks. Great stuff as usual.

A refreshing glance back to the basics!
It all starts with good alignment.
The hinged feather board is pure genius! Good use of those mag switches.
The rest is old school icing on the cake, something that gets overlooked
when the emphasis is "look at me make this" type of videos that these days seem to
include a lot more product placement. Yes, i did see the rockler name, but those clamps are
made by more companies than just them.

Great tips as always. The best thing about most of them is that the materials to make them are either in the scrap bin or somewhere in the shop.
i actually use a dial indicator in my blade alignment jig. I had an extra one laying around but you can get good ones on Amazon at a decent price. For fence alignment I just flip the jig with the dial indicator around so that the plunger is on the fence and move it from one end to the other.
I plan on making at least one of the feather boards with the self-closing door hinge when I get out to the shop this morning.

Well Colin, the Fence gate hinge looks to be a very safe way to keep your fingers. That is my next build. Thanks. The jig that really caught my eye is the last one you made to check the Fence alignment.. I seem to struggle with my Craftsman Table saw fence, especially when cutting plywood. Every wood worker has wood scraps. This is a given. Plenty of good tips to keep your shop safer and more efficient.

I used a piece of medium density plastic and made a sacrificial fence and put in on with clamps. easy to remove and it sits about 1/16 inch above the saw base.

Nice job on the video. Your tip for trimming the edge strips is exactly why William Ng recommends building an aux fence. The technique you demonstrate can also be used to trim up dovetail and box joints on drawers to minimize sanding and planing.

I have a Dewalt Table saw and the fence is constantly needing adjustment. I love the alignment hack, that makes so much sense, thank you. On a side note from another video (Picture Frames), I made the Jig, did the steps on making sure each side was parallel with the other and volla, a perfect miter.

The trick that I like starts at 9:08 ... simple, but effective. Thanks for this, Colin. Will make one tomorrow!
