Don't Buy These 5 Unreliable Money Pit Cars (IF You Like Money)

These are unreliable cars you should avoid. It doesn't matter if they're new or used, these are going to be costly to own due to maintenance, repairs, and issues that you'll need to deal with. I'll show you cars from many manufacturers and how they could cause you to lose money both from reliability and depreciation.

I even own one of these cars, with the BMW X5, so I get how you can end up owning these #luxurycars that are #unreliable.

Where we believe that Life's Too Short To Drive Boring Cars so we just don't and you shouldn't either.

Jeep GC owner here. I love my Jeep but I would welcome the problems on the Ford compared to my Jeep has. Chrysler keeps trying to buy me out of my lifetime warranty.

Unfortunately the mentality of most car manufacturers these days is, "Make sure it lasts til the end of the lease. After that, who cares?" If they'd put as much money into the engineering as they do into the design/appearance, we might have some cars that actually last.

I will never buy a British built vehicle again...Jaguar and Rovers were the worst. Changed to Lexus and now I sleep well at nights.

People actually buy Range Rovers not because they are beautiful, but because they are status symbols. My daughter who drives a Lexus SUV and makes lots of money told me she would either get a Mercedes SUV or Range Rover as her next car. This idea is purely based upon status. I told her that she is driving the best, most reliable vehicle available right now and that if she wants a new car to get another one of the same. This is her second Lexus and she has had zero problems. She had a BMW before that and it was in the shop constantly. Here is a good suggestion for those who have lots of money. Don't base your car buying decisions on what you think will impress others. Use your brain and buy a less status filled vehicle. You will save time and money. Don't be a sheep and follow others. I have enough money to buy pretty much any vehicle and I drive a lifted Subaru Crosstrek Sport. It gets me up the trails without the on-road compromises of a Jeep. Yes, I can't go where a jeep will go, but I go where I want to go. It is not as cool as a jeep, but it works for me. I don't really care what anyone else thinks about it. Buy for function and reliability, not fashion and status.

I find it comical how manufacturers are now pushing the technical features such as how you can sync all you phones and gadgets, etc. We've seem to have forgoten the most important features, getting from point A to point B in a safe and reliable manner. They can keep their bells and whistles. I prefer solid engines and transmissions.

Owning a Fiat 500 is like being in a relationship with a woman that pretends to love you but, wants all of your money. Looks can be deceiving😂😂

When I was in college I worked at a towing company. We never used dodge trucks. Cracked frames, loose front end, so true.

A wise man once said that 90 % of all Range Rovers are still on the road today - 10% have actually made them home...

Have a 2020 Explorer with 60000 miles, bought it in late 2019. Has been great. Zero problems.

"I personally owned every single piece of shit out there. And I am proud of myself because it takes real courage to ignore my own knowledge."
Weird...

The fact that you admit to owning some of these money pits yourself gives serious credibility to what you are trying to warn folks about. I have a co-worker who owns this same Range Rover... he looked at my 2010 FJ, and offered a 'straight-across trade... I declined, of course!!!
Keep on preaching, I'm in the pews, brother!!!!

Anything German or Italian made, 90% of people tend to lease them, to avoid any major maintenance costs after their 36K mile lease is up. Some dealers tend to cover simple oil changes during the span of the lease. Also Ford kept some of the vehicle designers from Land Rover & Austin Martin once they sold their share of ownership from those manufacturers.

I love my Explorer! I’ve owned XLT, Limited and now platinum. Never a problem. Like they say “if it’s not broken, why fix it” Next.

I agree, except for the explorer, the triton engine hasn't been used since the earliest 2000, all v6 after that.
The carbon monoxide leak was due to the police package installation, non existing on the civilian version, and last, why would the police department chose a vehicle that would be on the shop all the time?
Makes no sense, I believe that about 60 percent of the police departments nationwide chose ford's for their fleets, from the crown vic, Taurus and explorer.
I don't think that would be the case if it was such an unreliable car...
Other than that, I agree with the other 4 vehicles, specifically the BMW, I have owned 2, drive like a dream, but can suck the life out of you.

If you see that nothing is dripping from the Land Rover, it means that everything is already out of it....

Explorer and Taurus/MKS same platform 2010+. I owned 6 Taurus's since '99, 850K total miles, best value for the money, extremely reliable, excellent long trip car.

I agree with you on the BMW's and Fiats. But the Ford Explorer I don't agree. I have presently a 2013 Limited 3.5L engine no problems. And Scotty agrees. In the past I've owned 2007 Explorer XLT, 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer and a 2012 Expedition XLT . They all ran great minor problems with 2004 but it had 220K miles on it. Unfortunately all were taken out by crashes. Ford once owned Jaguar and Land Rover but sold them in 2006. So the new Explorer looks very like a Range Rover

There's a reason why all the corner "Buy here, Pay here" lots are full of beemers, Mercedes and Audi's. They rarely make it past the warranty period without high dollar repairs. Buy a Toyota or a Mazda or even a Korean if you are planning on keeping it.
