Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a new immigration law as an attempt to crackdown on employers that are hiring undocumented workers. The law would require undocumented workers to verify their legal status through an online database and would ban local governments from issuing IDs to the undocumented. If you’re illegal, you’re breaking the law. This applies to every country.

Ooh no, employers might have to pay an American salary. That's terrible. No more getting a days labor for $2 an hour anymore.

I can only imagine the rush to fill those positions from American citizens

Anyone that has broken a law should live in fear of accountability. Why is this worded as if enforcing our laws is evil. These people broke up their families when they paid cartels to come into the US, rather than going through the legal channels.

Business owners are going to be very mad. Because they won’t be able to save money by paying people so little. This will hit their profits hard.

Weren't the employers already supposed to be following the e-verify program anyway?

Breaking up families? When you decided to come into the USA illegally you put yourself and your family at risk. Now deal with the consequences of your own actions.

I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA AND I'M A MEXICAN AMERICAN, MY GREAT-GRANDPARENTS OWN LAND HERE WHEN IT WAS MEXICO.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION HAS TAKEN OVER OUR STATE, TURNING CITIES INTO SLUMS THAT LOOK LIKE MEXICO. MOST OF THE IMMIGRANTS FIND WORK BUT SINCE THEY ARE FROM LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS THEY GET GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE TOO (OUR TAX MONEY). HIGH CRIME, HOUSING SHORTAGES, TRAFFIC, AND HIGH TAXES HAVE A LOT TO DO WITH UNCONTROLLED IMMIGRATION. I WISH NBC NEWS WOULD REPORT ON HOW ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION HAS NEGATIVELY AFFECTED OUR AMERICAN CITIZENS.
