these are the same people who have been telling people that cholesterol is bad! but later after using cooking oil for 50 years we found that the cooking oil is actually so bad

I dont believe this. I spent years eating different diets to find out what makes me feel the best. Eating more meat and fruits make me feel way more energetic and alive than less meat.

My grandfather is 86 years old cattle rancher and eats a 12 oz steak every day since he was in his early twenties. He also jogged 3 miles a day till 82 and now walks those 3 miles because he broke his leg at 82. No one could ever convince me that eating red meat daily is bad for you.

About non meat eaters being more moderate in their diet in general, he doesn’t address the question that vegans for example could be much more interested in their overall health and longevity so therefore might engage in more exercise or other activities or choices when it comes to diet. Or that perhaps eating more vegetables (possibly less sugar too) is what leads to lower chance of heart risk and diabetes.

I increased my meat and fat consumption and stopped eating sugar and carbs… my triglycerides are very low and HDL is high! I could be happier.

How about keep samples to meat eaters who cooks at home, not going to fast food or drink soda? The problem is availability of unhealthy options and life choice variables make the intended study entirely pointless.

20% risk rate as a observational study is entirely useless. Do you, as a doctor, really believe this is useful data? Have you heard of healthy user bias?

What about the Maasai people who have carnivore diets and have low blood pressure, low cholesterol rates, and low rates of coronary artery diseases. I think cutting out processed and junk food is far more important than cutting out red meat.

What kind of meat are we talking about? Grain-fed or grass-fed ? These researches didn't specify.

Seven years ago I had a blocked carotid artery that nearly killed me. The doctor wanted me to go on statins but my research showed there are many issues with this pharmaceutical. So I did the research on what I could do to ‘unblock’ my arteries. At the time I was eating what is considered a healthy Western diet with all types of meats and dairy. Not one research study that I looked at said ‘eat more meat’, not one. I immediately changed my diet, cut out all meat and later all animal products. The cardiologist I went to about four years ago couldn’t believe that my arteries were so healthy yet he still wanted me to go on statins and did not ask anything about my diet, exercise or lifestyle. I said no. He almost had a heart attack he was so angry. I am a 69 year old woman who is healthier than I have ever been. I am vegan which is not only good for my health but good for the planet and certainly good for the animals who should not be slaughtered so horribly in the industrial food industry. So that is my story. Do I miss animal products? Not even cheese which many say they could never give up. And my vegan meals are so delicious. I love my life. And thank you Dr Barnard for all your work in this area. Love Chuck Carroll too. We need more doctors like you. Regards from Sydney Australia.

Fatty meat (red and otherwise) are the only things that seem to keep me regular-- Lipids help me digest food. May not be for everyone but be aware that politics and agendas play a part in everything.

I've been eating a pound of lean 93/7 beef a day at 12 with peppers and oinions. Go to work at 3pm to 1130pm go to gym and done by 1230 am. Have protein shake then bed at 1. I know there is alot of holes so I do take lot of supplements but damn I feel good
