I was a temple worker, supervisor of the initatory for a few years. It's amazing at what you can put on your shelf. And you have to have a bit of sympathy too as some people go on and on about what freaked them out but it didn't bother me in the least.
What got me was the covenant the wives made to their husbands. I never viewed myself as particularly righteous and it was ridiculous that she would depend on me. I guess I've always been a bit of a fiminist and this always rubbed me the wrong way.

I am really grateful I got out when I did. While I was in the church, I was so lonely and desperate for acceptance that I would have gone with all of this while being absolutely terrified. I will forever be grateful to my best friend for pointing out how wrong so much of what we ARE taught is. She helped me to no longer be a door mat, and I miss her so much. Now I remind myself of what she would tell me any time I’m thinking of putting my needs on the back burner as my way of keeping her memory alive.
