I have the Denon AVR-X8500H, and love it. Note, though, that the special preamp mode you mentioned, which disconnects the power supply from the amplifier section is an all or nothing proposition. It disconnects the power supply from all channels when enabled. So you can't take advantage of that feature if you're using any of the onboard amplifiers to power certain channels. (I have an Emotiva XPA-5 powering my fronts and rears, and use the Denon to power the left and right surrounds plus 6 height speakers.). Also, Denon just announced that DTS:X Pro will be available as a firmware upgrade for the 8500 later this year.

I got a Denon AVR-X3600H / EMOTIVA A300 to power the front Neuphonix Epicentrix from Krix in the last 3 months. 7.2.4.
Large LCR up front really help a 100 inch projector image

I hung 34 blackout drapery panels around my 14.5' W x 19' L room. Very minimal reflections. I have a 7.2.4 system. Yamaha RX-Z11 receiver. One sub & one transducer in my seating platform riser. I've had this system setup since 2007. I understand the importance of height speakers in a room.

Anthem really looks exciting to me, but it does not decide DSD which I have. Also have to question in a blind test setup correctly will most people be able to tell which is which or if one is better than the other. I would think room and speakers are more impacting on sound quality. I am looking to upgrade my Denon X7200WA later this years and debating Denon X8500HA vs. Marantz SR8015 vs Anthem MRX1140. I run 7.2.2 with dual subs in a room that is 19x14x8 and I use Klipsh speaker with PSA subs. Seems liek I may be splitting hairs, I suspect the 60W surround channels in the Anthem will be more than enough for me. I also do enjoy lossless music quality.

I fully agree to use the internal amps of the X8500 for the surround and immersive channels. The big advantage of the X8500 is the amp assign capabillity, so my surround channels are fired up in biamping mode. My main channels LCR are driven by active speakers. In the future my immersive channels get driven by an external amp, so I can switch it on when I need immersive Sound. Not to use the X8500 amps would be a pitty.

For my 5 main channels on my home theatre it's the Anthem Statement P5 monster. For a processor it's Marantz 8801. Perhaps I'll move over to the Anthem AVM 70. The P5 stays put.

i have an anthem mrx 700 and it is such a beast. when people watch movies at my place it still has that jaw on the floor level of performance. the others have features but the anthem with its all channels driven rating is a more superior expressive tool.

I have a Denon AVR-X4400 and I run a 5.2.4 system that I like a lot. The receiver is good and it gets a little hot but I use a fan to keep it cool. I always wanted a Anthem but they are out of my budget! How much better would the MRX 1120 be? Perhaps I should wait for the 740 or 1140 to be released. I need an Atmos receiver that can do 4 channels of Atmos. Nice video

Imax Enhanced was announced for Anthem ( I have the 1120) but no firmware updates as of yet. Do you have any insight to this?

Very thorough presentation. Loved the camera angle.
I run separates- pre-pro + (3) mono blocks, + (1) 7 channel.

Hi, thanks for your very informative video. I'm looking for a preamp sound processor without the built in amps so I can use my own power amps to drive magnepans for a minimum of 5.1 and expandable in future. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

I've got Focal Aria speakers what do you think i'd need to run them optimally? Im coming from a Denon AVR-3312 and upgrading to a 4k projector and therefor need a new AVR. My Focals are Aria 926 and CC900 and using the SR900's as rears. Planning on adding 4 ceiling speakers for Atmos at the same time too. Local store seems to think a Denon X3700H should run it all but im not sure. Im confused as to whether to go for another receiver such as an Anthem or higher end Denon or stick to the x3700H and get another amp. Any suggestions?

i recently purchased an Onkyo AVR which i am happy with especially for music and it took literally over a month of ever day listening before it warmed up. wonder how they would compare in sound quality over a few months. only running 5.1 but wish i was able to afford the Anthem MRX 520.

What do you reccomend for audiophiles when you compare denon, anthem and marantz the models you have discussed ....?? Also please tell a brand and a model which has the 'centre spread' facility. Please

Hi great video 😘
I currently have a Denon avr6300 running 7.1.4. I have an external 7 ch power amp ( JBL synthesis sda 7200) running bed layer so Denon is only doing processing and heights. I’m considering getting the Anthem AVM 60 as I want to go down the processor/amp route because I’m hearing it’s the next step in audio quality, I know I’ll need another power amp for heights but do you think I’ll notice much difference in audio quality? I’m running PSB CW 800 LCR and cw383s surrounds. Monitor audio ct165 atmos

A good review however you can’t decouple the LCR is only it’s all or nothing. I’m currently running the Marantz SR 8012 and I am using an Anthem MCA325 for my LCR .
