The Denon has more juice than you think. It can hit 105wpc with 9ch driven. Very impressive for an AVR 👍

Visiting in the Dreamedia owner's home and seeing his passion and enthusiasm really hits home that it truly is a "mom and pop" store. I didn't think it was possible but Zack has become even more likeable and relatable with these product reviews from his mancave/living room/home theater/studio space.

This is a very good rundown but one correction. The Marantz Amp 10 does 200w but only with 2 channels into an 8 ohm load. There is no way it can feed 200w into all 16 channels driven. This is conjecture but I bet the Amp 10’s all channels driven power is very comparable to the Denon A1’s 15 full channels driven power (it’s rated at 150w X 2 channels 8 ohm. So more power is not a good reason to spend a lot more on the Marantz separates than the Denon single box.

Lastly, Denon/Marantz has a well deserved reputation for underpowered all channels driven ratings (which is partly why they had to issue their 7 channels guarantee I assume). I bet both the A1H and Amp 10 likely output around 50w or so with all channels driven.

simple and direct question, does the marantz AV 10 compared to the Marantz AV 8805\A have a better sound?, by better sound I mean more precision, greater details, more spatiality, more channel separation, more three-dimensional stereophony and better than the 8805A? It's more musical and has a cinematic timbre like trinnov or storm audio thanks

I can understand that the Marantz AMP10 would cost that much, when compared to the Denon. What I can't get my head around, is how the Marantz AV10 is still more expansive than the A1H, given that it seems to have similar features. How can the Marantz AV10, with no built-in amps whatsoever, be more expansive than the A1H with similar features, but with all the built-in amps??

Maybe I didn't spend enough time looking at the specs difference. But it seems like it would have to be a hell of a difference to justify Marantz AV10 actually being more expansive than the entire A1H.

Given that the A1H is a processor + amp at the same price of the AV10, what is the point to buy the Marantz? I mean even if I am to change it in the future, the A1H will have more resale value due to having also an amp in addition to an outdated processing unit..

Can you suggest a good receiver that will work in any country with universal voltage

it must be good to experience all the time these newer higher end speakers, receivers, amps, subs and etc.

Wouldn't the Denon A1H be the Marantz AV10's big brother? Internal amps, plus pre-outs until your heart's content. Also, you can reassign the balanced XLR's to any speakers you want; I use them for the LCR.

Are the AMP10 XLR inputs fully balanced?

I actually made the purchase of the AVR-A1H (list $6500). In my opinion, no matter which one you purchase, as soon as a new model is available you dread the fact that you have the old model. I believe you should make the decision more on necessity then want. It just seems wasteful to spend over twice the cost for the amp10 (list $7000) and AV10 list $7000) if you really don't need it. Unless money is no object. Also, you can replace the AVR-A1H (list $6500) with the next model for less cost then the AV10 (list $7000) alone and you have a brand new system. With separates it always seems that the new models come out together. I also believe that most AV connoisseurs are going to want the new processor with it's matching amp Not a new processor with an old model amp. Just my thought. On layovers I watch your channel all the time. Thanks for the video!

I understand the differences. But the A1H is NOT a beginner receiver @ $6500.00
And the antenna is for Wifi and Bluetooth capabilities in the receiver

It was interesting to hear the 70-lb, 15.4 channel Denon A1H being described as an "entry-level" model (perhaps compared to the Marantz AV10/AMP10 set-up?) As for the similarities, I suspect that the Denon and the Marantz use the same/similar boards, hence the identical/parallel placement/alignment of, for example, the balanced (XLR) connections, etc. I also suspect, from the processing perspective, they are likely very similar, and it seems the only difference of note is that the Marantz AV10 only processes signal and the internal amps of the Denon are replaced by the AMP10 of the Marantz set-up. Aside from the amplification, I wonder if there are any notable differences between the A1H and the AV10 at all. For most applications, the Denon A1H would do great. However, as you have pointed out, I can easily concede that the Marantz AV10/AMP10 would be the choice for much larger and more professional installations. Thank you for a good review. (If memory does not fail me, the Marantz is also supposed to have legacy connections, whereas the Denon lacks them all together, aside from a Phono connection). Thank you for your informative review.

is there a advantage to going from the Denon 8500HA to the Marantz AV10?, I have been using the Denon in preamp mode with Multi EQX

How does the AV8805a still hold up in 2023?

They really need to either add balanced outs to the Denon or make a Denon Preamp processor. I've always used Denon separates since the AVP-8000. The porthole on the Marantz looks dumb, it's bad enough that I really am looking for alternatives now.

How do. I have recently purchased 2 monoprice m215s replacing supercube trinity, reference, and 7000sc tower subs all ran on a onkyo rz3100 perfectly fine. When i hooked up the 215s that dont boom as they should during usage, like hardly at all. Connected lfe. Any suggestion as to what reciever or addition to my system to get them to work properly? I have recalibrated and factory reset before every test. Is my pre out to low or my wall outlet. Im Desperate.

Can you switch off the the amps in A1H and just use is as a processor. I’m thinking of getting an AMP10 and 6800h or cinema 40 (or 30 in future)

I just love drooling over high end audio. That AV 10 processor and amp are such beasts
