From entry-level to the best we have ever heard, there is sure to be a model that is right for your home theater system needs. To make the list, the model needed to be pretty simple to set up, have good audio performance for its price range, and be built to last.

For reference, the 2 DAC's in that top of the line ARCAM AVR31 $8000 receiver cost about $35 each.

The Yamaha looks pretty cool. I have a 7015 and I am very happy with it. I’m sure most receivers do what it does, but I moved up from a Sony es 3700 and it’s a huge difference in the way it does everything.

If you don’t need the preamp the NR 7100 Onkyo does everything to RZ50 does, but a lot cheaper.

I can vouch for Yamaha A8A for $3K. It’s 48 lbs, heavier than any of the receivers mentioned and the same DACs as in the Arcam for $6K.

I’m choosing between the Onkyo NR7100 and the Onkyo RZ50 as mentioned in this video. The only reason I was considering going to the RZ50 was because I heard it sounds even better. I don’t need the additional features I’d get with the RZ50 however. Think it’s worth it to go for the RZ50 > NR7100?

Best thing ever. Except for having to order a new subwoofer connector. But apart from that, sound is superb. Can't wait to hear it with the sub connected.

Why the RX-A2A over the RX-V6A? Aside very minor changes (detachable PSU cable, Dobly atmos height virtualization and DTS Express) those are identical but the 15% marked-up price. Also, no mention about the HDMI 2.1 debacle on most of the models and how manufacturers are handling it? Yamaha offers a free exchange for the A2A/V6A, but Athem only offers optional paid upgrade for the 740/1140 for 650$, quite the difference.

Here's a big wake-up call to all home theatre receiver manufacturers. I want to be able to use my headphones and speakers at the same time! Years ago we use to be able to do that. I want that option back!
