Sorry, I didn’t think my old toaster drew that much amperage.

look at the SAG on those lines as well, getting danger close to arcing to ground.

Wow, I just read something about this. Apparently human error lead to the over-riding of safety systems. The sag in the cables caused them to touch a nearby railway catenary, causing a consequential second short-circuit, and current rising to 150kA!!! Huge damage.

That was a very big and expensive mishap. The power lines touched the railway catenary, burning out just about all equipment of the railway. All cables and electronics had to be replaced.

Thankfully he panned the camera back and forth slowly enough that we were able to clearly see everything in fine detail…

I have seen cables sag due to thermal expansion but I have never seen as sag as you see on the video.

Just when I thought I had a bad day at work. Hopefully no one was hurt. I have been at a company that caught fire. All these things make for an interesting day. Sometimes you just never know what you can get sucked into during workday. May we all go home safely.

there was a short circuit in this 150 kV line. it was 100% human error. I have heard things that the short circuit system was not working properly or was not connected properly

The magnetic field the power created must have been very powerful at that time .
