Our bees finally came in! I bought a 5 frame Nuc from a local apiary in hopes that it would give me a good start to beekeeping. I haven't cared for bees in the past so I'm just diving in and getting started! I show the process of placing the Nuc and switching it to my 10 frame hive box.

Congrats to your new hive. Get a round rapid feeder to feed these bees, so the syrup wouldn't drip into the hive. You should keep feeding your bees syrup and pollen paddy and give them more room, let the bee population expend as fast as them can. When the bees fill up two deep box, split the hive and buy another queen. You would have two healthy hives to go into winter. Don't know where you live, but it is always better to have at least two hives going into winter. I started with one nuc too, and had two by winter, they both survived that winter. But after that, I lost about 30% every winter. Good luck with your bees and have fun.

Thats great! Excited to follow along with your process. My wife Cara wants to get bees, but we haven't decided if we are comfortable with the potential stinging yet haha. - Ryan & Cara
