Arrokoth (formerly Ultima Thule) as seen by the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) aboard NASA's New Horizons, between 31 December 2018, 20:00 UTC, and 1 January 2019, 05:01 UTC. During this sequence of the flyby, New Horizons distance from Ultima Thule decreased from 500,000 kilometres (310,000 miles) to just 28,000 kilometres (17,100 miles).
