The Arrokoth (formerly Ultima Thule) 3D image was created by the New Horizons science team from two images taken by the Long-Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) at 4:23 and 5:01 Universal Time on January 1, 2019 from respective ranges of 61,000 kilometers (38,000 miles) and 28,000 kilometers (17,000 miles), with respective original scales of 310 meters (1017 feet) and 140 meters (459 feet) per pixel.

Don't cross your eyes, as that puts each image in the "wrong" eye and inverts the 3D effect. Instead, on a small screen like a phone, hold it very close to your eyes and relax as though you are looking at a distant object. When the images merge, you will see the third dimension correctly.

This is what is known as a _divergent stereopair._ Cross-eyed stereoimages on the other hand are known as _convergent stereopairs._ This is the former.

Note: if you wear corrective lenses for distance, you will be able to focus more comfortably by removing them. If you have normal vision, a pair of strong reading glasses will help.

It's a wonderful presentation on Ultima Thule. So I think we might be focussing more on it ultimately ✨🌟
