Have a hunch that Lex was talking about Kanye getting angry at 3:00 😂😂😂

I find asking questions along the way for more detail, repeating their main points, explaining and/or asking how they feel about what they are discussing and finally summarising what they have said once they have exhausted all they want to speak of; shows someone that you truly listened, understood and emphasized. This is especially good when someone is disgruntled about something.

5:28 was so impressive. It’s almost like he hypnotized Lex and got him talk and Lex didn’t even notice.

Thanks for shining the light on the difference between interacting in a negotiation setting and in your everyday environment. Thoroughly read Chris' book and have had other contacts with negotiation training but always found it hard to fully implement these techniques in the "real" world. Some elements, though, work brilliantly and I always found that preparing for a difficult conversation while leaning back on Chris' knowledge was well worth the effort.

Not thinking about the next thing you are going to say. In addition to what he said this statement is one of the ways I make sure I’m really listening.

I wish I could listen and retain what people say. I *hear* them, but I instantly forget most times. I've met people 20+ times before I remember them 0_o

It's not that I'm uninterested in most either. I just can't remember, always been like this. 😓

man what a cool clip! Have not even listened to the whole episode yet! Ummm well…. probably won’t… because I generally just watch the Lex Clips in between listening to whole episodes of all the other podcasts I try to consume as often as possible.

Active and empathetic listening are priceless skills .Simply paraphrase back to them. Most people are not heard because people are just thinking about what they want to say and I am often guilty of doing so . Phones have made this so much worse…

Calling out negativity deactivate negativity hits home because i had this dream for turning hostile apes into rational civil human by blowing a horn that grew on a traveling palm tree.. this is the symbolic represention for turning irrational into rational by the act of whistleblowing. The horn was blown by an insider as in another ape who wanted to save me and my mentor.. quite an interesting dream. Then apes turned into people and started having normal people convo lol

I think it’s good that Lex seems to think about his conversation with Kanye alot. He cares about him, maybe feels he didn’t quite get the closure or outcome he wanted
