My father tuned for Artur Rubinstein at East Carolina college. Mr Rubinstein knelt down to shake my hand, as my father introduced me to him. I was 5 years old. I didn't fully realize the gravity of the moment, but I knew it was special !!

There's only one Chopin. There's only one Rubinstein. A match made in heaven.

How grateful l am that l attended a performance of this Concerto when a student in London, having saved hard to get the price of a ticket. Now at 83, l have never heard better musicianship, as every note is a treasure…..Ceri Long

Written by Chopin at 19, performed by Rubinstein at 88, wonderful!

When I was a child, I saved my babysitting money and rode the bus to attend Mr. Rubinstein's concert in Seattle. It was one of the most influential experiences of my life. I am thrilled to be able to view this video. It has brought me to tears.

It is wonderful to see Rubinstein playing in concert. At this respect YouTube is the best “time machine”

Perhaps at age 12, as a piano student, my parents took me to a Rubenstein concert in Washington, D.C.
What an experience! (I'm 73 now)...not just the wonderful music, but also the vivid charm of his manners, dress, movements on stage, graciousness towards the audience and pure dignity.
The video is impressive, but only a faint echo of being there. The first record I bought myself was a recording of AR's Chopin noctures. What a gift to the music loving world.

The best word I can find for this wonderful performance is "dignified". So calm, completely "non-ego", really putting the music into the centre. And finally not rushing it, really playing music, not showing off virtuosity. Thank you for sharing.

Chopin moves me and fills my senses like no other. This concerto is my absolute favourite piece of his. The emotions race and tumble downstream, then gently flow into a calm lake softly lapping at the water’s edge. Clouds float by, birds sing in the trees, love is in the air, I feel peace and contentment. He breaks my heart and then I am in love again. Love never dies in his music, he always gives us hope and a sense of purpose. Do you feel it too?

A local orchestra (which included a lady who later became one of my profs) prepared all week for the Maestro to arrive for the run through before the evening's concert. They begin the intro. He waves for them to stop. "What is that you're playing?" Such and such concerto was the reply. "That is not what I prepared!" Stunned silence. He closes his eyes, flutters his fingers over the keyboard a minute or two. Looking up at the conductor says "all right, go ahead".

When I was 12, My Mom took me to my 1st Carnegie Hall concert during its 75th Anniversary celebrations. Rubinstein was on the program and my Mom took me backstage to meet him post concert. That's when I learned that my maternal Grandfather knew him. He and my Mom had a chat and Mom have me an unforgettable memory.

Maestro Rubinstein..ageless at 88, playing with no score and an inspiration for conducting one's self with decorum, strength and grace. Bravo Maestro!

Nothing fits this performance better than what Robert Schuman said about Frederic Chopin "Hats off, gentlemen, a genius !". Thank you for this moment of grace and beauty
