Toyota were NOT the pioneer of the PHEV, Mitsubishi are, the outlander PHEV was the world's first PHEV suv.

I'd take the Outlander all day everyday, Mitsubishi has been building PHEV's since 2013, and they've been actually experimenting EV's since the 70's I think, plus this has the best interior in it's class period and has the best AWD system in any PHEV, also it's rear biased and has a heat pump and has 7 seats and has massaging seats and has dual paned front windows like a Bentley and has a DC fast charging support.

Hi David,
I would go with the Toyota over the Kia, and the Mitsubishi simply because of reliability and dependability … excellent video, David, as always…

The most reliable is definitely the Toyota. I don't like the KIA interior. But I do prefer the KIA exterior styling.

In Canada, the RAV4 Prime pricing is awful. Almost $67k even after rebates for a top trim which is missing features compared to only $51k for the Kia. There is no world where that is acceptable. I'm not sure the Outlander PHEV is a good comparison because in hybrid mode, its mileage is only 26 MPG and is also more expensive. Probably better suited against the Sorrento PHEV. We have a Sportage SX PHEV on order hopefully coming soon.

David, What sells me isn't a high level of flash but emphasis on "QDR". Even though Hyundai/Kia has made great advances since the 70's. Their long term durability and reliability is to be determined.

Kia/Hyundai spend a lot of money on styling, interior, and technology. You have to ask yourself, where did they cut corners? Car Care Nut just looked at the new Palisade and found poor welding on the exhaust, cheap and unprotected metal on the exhaust flex pipes, and non-hydraulic lifters which will need to be manually adjusted at some point. It’s the little cost-cutting corners that make me shy away from them. That and the fact that Toyota has Kaizen built into their production and business culture. It a totally different frame of mind.
