Is Coronary Plaque Regression Possible?

“What can I do to remove coronary heart blockages? Are there medications to reduce the blockages?” ...

These are some of the most common questions I get asked when my patients discover that they have coronary heart blockages.

Prevention is key, but once the atherosclerotic plaques have set in, it is very difficult to reduce or remove the plaques altogether via medications alone - medications may stabilize the plaques but they often do not cause regression or reversal of the narrowing.

Sorry, despite my 400 CAC score and high cholesterol I will NOT take statins. I do not trust studies funded by big pharma and doctors basing their practice and treatments on those studies. I'm almost 70 YO and my resting heart rate is in the mid 50s, my BP is typically 115/72. I must be doing something right. I fast regularly and ride my bike at least 60 miles every week.

All the meds and superfood magic bullets are no help if you are eating a high processed carb diet causing inflammation. I suspect if you take people who are strict keto eating real food, then add in high dose Omega 3, K2, niacin and LDL/apoB inhibitors you stand a good chance. And of course, if exercise was a drug, there would be little need for most others. 😎

Well statins add to muscle pain & I already have FM, OA, PA, AS, COPD, Pre-diabetes SPN, WMD +
So My carotid artery is 69% blocked, maybe even 70% blocked.
Would it B wiser to have a TCAR & a stent & have to take blood thinner for the rest of my life or not do surgery & take Praluent 150 mgs every week which as U said will harden the soft plaque, but not open th artery. So less blood & oxygen is getting to my brain.
I am afraid it will kill me being so blocked.
I know if it becomes hard plaque, calsified it won't break off & cause a stroke, but hey I'm getting less oxygen & blood to my brain.
That sucks!
Your thoughts about such a high blockage in the carotid artery. The other is the standard 50%.
Hope to hear from U.
Scared to do anything other than red rice yeast, flushing niacin & garlic..

Dear Doctor, I am from India. So far I have been free of any symptoms. I have a positive family history (mother had a stroke and died 30 years ago when I was a child), father was free of any cardiovascular symptoms and died in 2020.
I am probably a carrier of the 9p21.3 region gene associated with CAD and premature CAD which is common in an Asian Indian population. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. I had an angiography 2 weeks ago

Coronary angiography:
Left main stem unobstructed.
Left coronary artery:
70% stenosis of prox. RIVA, 50% stenosis of prox. RIM.
70% stenosis of LCX – Proximal. 70% stenosis of Mid.LCX

Right coronary artery:
80% stenosis of dist. RCA. 70% stenosis of med RCA.

Diagnoses:
1. coronary triple barrel disease.
- Coronary angiography elective with the diagnosis of CHD on cardiac CT on 13.07.2023:
- Sign. proximal RIVA stenosis.
- RCX with long wall changes and sign. Stenoses proximal and in the middle section
- RIM with intermediate stenosis proximally
- RCA diffuse wall-angulated with significant. Stenoses proximal and distal
- Lavographically normal LVEF. no reg. motility impulses
- Cardiac CT in advance (Chur) with electrical path. Ergometry: diagnosis of CHD, Ca-score >1000
- CyRF: Art. Hypertension

Assessment: The 47-year-old patient is found to have quite advanced coronary three-vessel disease for his age with significant stenoses in the proximal RIVA, RCX and RCA. Stenoses in the proximal RIVA, RCX and RCA. The vessels have diffuse wall changes, but the connecting segments for an ACBP would be relatively small. The LVEF is normal. I discussed the findings with the patient at length and told him that the findings were not suitable for percutaneous revascularization. With the patient completely symptom-free, we decided to perform a cardiac MRI with a question about the extent of ischaemia. Then we discussed ACBP vs. drug therapy. In addition to the established medication, I prescribed atorvastatin and bisoprolol. Thank you

Old statin studies were paid by pharma. New studies show statins do very little. Diet does more. Reducing stress does more. I reduced my blockage. Weight loss and good sleep help more.

In my angio report it states “non calcified plaque” is this the same as “lipid rich plaque” mentioned in this video ? Thanks
