In this poker lesson I break down several key strategy fundamentals — including which hands to play and when to bet, raise, bluff, or fold.

If you're new to the channel, my name is Nathan "BlackRain79" Williams and I am a 10+ year professional poker player and 3-time best selling author.

Poker is fundamentally a game of skill and I believe that focusing on the basics is the most effective way to improve your game.

After watching 3 of your videos last night and implementing your teachings I won my very first Texas Holdem tournament of 1170 ppl on GG, I've chipped away at it for almost a year and never got this far. THANK YOU SO MUCH Nate!... I will continue to learn and progress as I too aspire to become a poker pro 🙏🏽😎

A lot of this depends on your position, your opponents, and if the pot is raised.

7-5 suited is the James bond hand. Never fold 7-5 suited

I sometimes limp hands like 7-5 suited to see the flop, because I want to get straight-flush at least once in my life))))

I’ve lost so much 💵 with K, 10, I vowed to never play it again. I seem to not only lose with it, but get beat by it also!!

have to disagree... if youre talking about tournaments, then fine, but in cash games, the cards you play should depend almost completely on your position, your stack, and how much it costs to see a flop. In cash games you want to see cheap flops with bad cards and expensive flops with good cards

noob here (and just subscribed to your channel). Your videos are very helpful to me, mainly because you explain all the terminology (e.g. TAG, LAG etc). Keep up the good work & thank you!

57s is one of my favorite hands along with other suited 1 gappers like 64s 86s etc but the key is not to go crazy when you flop middle pair lol. You're hoping to smash bottom 2 or a combo draw and stack someone who can't let go of their top pair.

According to GTO Wizard A9o and KTo are both raises from the Hijack

I was busted in the last tournament playing ICM AJs against A3o, he hitted two pair after paying my preflop OR x 3 and powerful smack of almost pot size post flop....

Ace - 9 is great when 2 9's hit the board. most of these hands are fine with minimal call cost and position, but fold if the board is not lucky

I play in a weekly bounty tournament where I live and run into a lot of these hands and suffer bad beats quite often because we a bunch of amateurs and fish in the tournament but I will say I am able to take your advice the weeks I make the final table and cash(top 5 cash in this tournament)or win because the fish that just got lucky and made it can’t compete in that situation because the blinds are super expensive and I purposefully raise them all in when I got position because they almost always call me. I also participate in the Monthly cash game at the same location so your advice has helped me improve my game tremendously.

Sir, u said fold Ace and 9 pre-flop but there is no guarantee that flop will have high cards. I have seen when flop open with smaller cards and my Ace ten wins. So i have to wait till flop opens and then see how many players have bet or raise the pot before i fold.
