I played Alicematic Heroes at Gen Con a few years back. I recall it was good enough that we played 3-4 times in a row. I remember thinking that the game was very good, but there was a jarring disconnect between the lighthearted art and the very direct and fierce competitive abstract game in front of me. I don't own it and haven't played since, but I am pretty sure I'd enjoy spending more time with it.

From that set, my favorite would be Deadly Dowagers. My kids would definitely pick Block Ness though. And Haunt the House is a real hidden gem. Great family game.

I actually love Splitter! Very simple but nice sudoku feeling roll and write. Nice when you have a few minutes and want to relax and puzzle something out.

Lion Rampant is a decent medieval army miniatures game. (The fantasy version is Dragon Rampant.) Miniatures agnostic, easy enough to learn, and a fun game to play.

Samurai (the 1975 Avalon Hill edition shown on this list) is quite a good multiplayer game of area control in Japan.

Attrition of Souls is a light and shorter 2p WW1 game. Worth the play for those that may be hesitant about more complex war games. Hero of Weehawken (which was skipped over) is another great Victory Point solo game experience. They make some great state of siege style games that are easy to play, but not easy to win.
