I had Humana as a supplement and I kept calling them because they didn't cover anything and they finally said I should drop them that I was wasting my money. They said you have Medicare A+B and FEHB and VA benefits that I didn't need anything else.

Medicare Advantage plans are also available through FEHB.

To clarify...If a Federal Retiree suspends their FEHB Plan during Open Season and goes to an Advantage Plan (Medicare C) for 2 or more years - that Retiree can come back to a traditional FEHB Plan, during Open Season, no matter what their health issues are? In other words they don't have to submit to medical underwriting like non -federal insurances require?

You mentioned the cost of part B, but doesn’t that increase based on income? Some federal employees may pay a lot more with pensions and TSP withdrawals in retirement, unless I am mistaken.

Great video. Thanks for explaining how this works. One question I have is if you keep FEHB then later decide to switch to traditional Medicare with supplement do you have to answer health questions to get the supplement?

If I keep FEHB as second payer, can I LATER choose to go to a Supplemental plan (like G) during open season/enrollment periods some years later? (accepting that it is a permanent change at that later time)

If the federal rules change and FEHB beneficiaries become required to take Medicare part B, do you think they would charge the 10% yearly penalty for late enrollment? Would this be a good reason to take part B with your FEHB from the get go?

Does it really matter when you terminate your fehb plan

This was the information I was looking for. Since my wife is not yet eligible for Medicare at this time it looks like I'll have to keep my FEHB and Parts A & B.

Part B for feds will not be paying that low amount of 170. Feds income will likely be above the threshold amount that this 170 is based on. Part B is based on your income - you will pay a hefty price per month on top of the cost of fehb. Granted the amount will lower as your income decreases but those first years you will a lot of money. Do your own research before you make a selection.

Great videos and great information. Is it true that Blue Cross basic plan will help pay your Medicare part B plan if you decide to take it

I retired from Federal Service at 55. I’ll be turning 65 this November. My wife is 7 years younger than me. If I enroll in Medicare A and B, will she still be covered under my BC/BS Standard plan until she reaches age 65 ?

Great video! If I were to add Medicare B in the special Medicare enrollment for PSHB coming next year and my wife and I decide to get a supplemental plan, would this supplemental plan apply to my son who is 24 years old, or would he be dropped off the plan?

I’m on SSDI, kept FEHB and canceled part B when I was 47. When I turn 65 and SSDI turns into regular SS, will I be penalized 10% for not paying into part B since it was available when I got SSDI at 47 years old?
What if SS terminates SSDI and says I’m not eligible anymore before turning 65, would SS still go back and penalize 10% for the years I was on SSDI without part B?
