Taiwanese tech giant TSMC warns an invasion of the island would render its factory inoperable, devastating global supply. Tensions are rising ahead of a potential visit to Taiwan by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

And the growing chip shortage continues. Last week Taiwan said its key position in making semi-conductors won't be shaken in response to the U-S passing a law to subsidize its domestic semi-conductor industry. Europe also wants to ramp up production. Germany has been trying to clinch a deal for a plant from TSMC, the biggest player. The company's factories in Taiwan are running at full capacity to alleviate the shortages.

Exciting times for semiconductor stocks TSMC, AMD and NVDA. which are all experiencing a surge in value. It's interesting to watch the competition develop, given these stocks are major contributors to Al chip growth. On the increase of my personal holdings, I've witnessed amazing impact on my shares.

Taiwan also sits on a strategic trade crossroad where all trade from Japan, Korea and Northern China will transit either side of Taiwan to reach Europe and the Middle East. This trade will be interrupted if any tensions happen near Taiwan.

It’s worrying not just because of new technology. But also weapons manufacturing.

Imagine this, a country during war has used up its smart precision bomb stick pile And has no way to manufacture more because those need semi conductors

Tsmc overseas production accounts only 5% of its total capacity.

And the politicians never wanted to even just mention "Taiwan". Then buy it from PRC.

TSMC build factory in US or europe is double edged sword. it reduces the importance of the island & hence reduce other countries support possibility if something "happened" to them.

Ironic, a chip manufacturer's facilities would be so easily destroyed by today's missiles.

US is trying to bring back the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure back to US soil. They just might be ready in another 5 years. New advanced fabs are already under construction throughout the US but are years and years away from completion. The costs of bringing back this infrastructure is in the hundreds of billions of dollars.
