These are some of the things, in my opinion, would deter me from buying this camera if I found out about this beforehand. At the time, this camera was ahead of its time tho. I'm not here to discourage my fellow sony a6500 users, I'm just stating my findings in comparison with newer, more expensive cameras nowadays. let me know what you think!

It’s an old camera so the Technology is also old . It’s what a lot of folks can afford newer doesn’t mean better pictures my Sony a6500 with the right lenses can compete with a lot of newer cameras quick google images search proves my point

I am a Canon shooter through and through, I picked up one of these for $100 (I know..I know..) with an EF to E adapter (Metabones). I'm impressed with it. It is my first mirrorless camera. There's things I like and dislike..I still dont know about mirrorless yet lol

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this body. I understand it. It would be the same for me if I was a professional photographer. For me, being on a budget and not having to make a living of photography, the step from a Sony a6000 to the a6500 is quite big. In the second hand market the a6600 was too expensive for me. I wanted to experience IBIS and better autofocus for example compared to the a6000.
I have used Nikon aps-c and Canon FF and aps-c DSLR cameras, and I do miss the colors of the Canon. But the body has less weight, a smaller size and relatively cheap lenses (that also weigh less) available for the e-mount system. That has pulled me in. White balance is something that I fix in post if I feel the auto white balance is off. Oh, I realize you talk mainly about video. That's something I never have really done. I admire that trade a lot 😂.

Hi there, just came across your video on the a6500. For me, the biggest problems were the very dim yet highly reflective screen (which gets even dimmer when shooting 4K), and the overheating, so I am surprised that you didn't mention those. (The rolling shutter is kind of bad, too, and the 1080p was worse than on my a6000 and a5100 even, so you basically HAVE to use 4K on the a6500) I guess I have had maybe one or two clients who commented on the size of the a6500 being small, but I would often put it on a big gimbal or rig it up, so wasn't as much of a problem. And battery life is a problem, but you can get a third-party battery grip which extends the battery life, makes the camera look bigger to clients, and potentially reduces the likelihood of overheating (since a lot of the heat buildup inside the camera comes from the battery getting warm, and the battery grip uses a dummy battery ihside the actual body of the camera).

Hey man... Do your clients ask you what you are shooting on? When anyone asks me what I shoot on, I tell them that we shoot in 4K and deliver 1080P files. If they want to know more than that, I tell them that our camera choices are part of our proprietary special look and we don't share that information. If they still push, I point to our portfolio of work and tell them it speaks for itself. We even cover our cameras in tape because we don't want anyone to know what we use. 😂

"Percieved Value"....what a conundrum...if ; 'You' allow yourself to be judged by the kit you use! To me this can be reframed as having low self esteem and the reason we have low self esteem is because of the modern day judgmenents around comparing oneself to others. The moment we cease such thinking and practice being self accepting, the better we will become. This then affords us 'Value which we can Percieve'. We then operate in a way which utilises reliance on our skills, integrity and authenticity and not being overtly concerned with the insecurities of measuring oneself to others or the material aspects of stuff.

Now as a comparison to percieved value over the external influences. Once we cease reliance on how other percieve us, we can make choices which are good for us. If one needs the lastest tech or old tech, it becomes more a matter of personal choices which we are comfortable with. We operate in a much better space of self security and find meaning and purpose in our work flow and such enhances our life balance.

Sometimes you have to disable autofocus or increase F and white balance you have to adjust it before start recording, I think the sensor is just a standard HD perfect for HD TVs most people have. I will get a second A6500 for $400 just to keep it as back up camera.

If someone won’t hire me because I don’t have the newest of camera bodies I don’t think I want them as a client
