For anyone wondering: it seems like the option "always allow" under the ribbon view is moved to Options and settings -> Options -> Global / Power Query Editor. Here you can tick the box that says "Always allow parameterization in data source and transformation dialogs".

Seriously, I achieved dynamic loops with data sources and columns selection by associatiing them from SharePoint so users can define and leverage Power bi standalone application to play around with their database, servers, columns to summarise which was a custom requirement for my business needs

The very thing I needed. One of my report has around 20 tables and each time we test on dev, uat and prod, I have to update the server name and database name. Finally, this will save me a lot of time updating the source.

There was a DA-100 Exam question about changing data source between test, production, and development under an Azure SQL database. I believe the answer "Create a parameter and update the queries to use the parameter." is the correct option. Thanks for the video.

I use the parameters all the time, also very useful on Excel Power Query - You can segment paths and file names into any number of parameters.

for me a common case use, is file path Parameter and file name parameters (these however can also be further split up.
