Phoenix's situation was because of her callsign. She was obligated to catch fire, blow up and then rise up again. I'm pretty sure that was the logic behind it. If her callsign had been Pancake she would have died.

Hey guys we just wanted to let you know since you played football and didn't take this mission seriously. We decided to go with 2 B2 bombers with 4 F18 growlers in support.

“This is what happens when you throw the NATOPS in the trash can” 😂 classic Mover

Gonky is most of us in the audience, just enjoying the movie for what it is. Mover is straight up Gordon Ramseying the movie in pieces, which is hilariously entertaining. Thankfully i've watched and enjoyed the movie to the point of saturation that now i'm enjoying reaction videos tearing the movie apart without it affecting my love for the movie xD

10:19 Maverick: "Don't tell me. Tell it to his family".
Phoenix: (wait for it) "The Navy requests to tell you that your sons are dead because they were stupid. "

Have to admit this was top notch good fun at its best - i loved hearing Gonky's recounting of birdstrike and seeing you go through NATOPS to refresh the restart was beyond cool 🙂

You guys are awesome! Honestly, I only understood about half of what you were saying (if that, LOL), but I had a lot of fun watching and listening. Thank you for your service.

The mission is basically the trench run from Star Wars. The only difference is that the trench run and impossible bullseye shot happens before the dogfight in this movie whereas the dogfight happens first in Star Wars.

Gonky is like an upright golden retriever. He's so excited about the movie.

Now I want to see Topgun: Mover. It would just be two hours of Mover and Gonky being annoyed at the characters in the movie while getting it done better. 👍

That’s true….everyone ignored the fact that he went right back into a hard pull and realistically would have G-locked again.

From a non military person all the exposition and conversing helps the general audience understand what's going on. But I love hearing what actual should be happening. Best of both worlds

Love hearing real fighter pilots take on this movie. Totally reminding me of Mystery Science Theater 3000

Yes, Mav was explaining things the pilots and wizzos already knew, but the point of that dialogue was for the viewer. Not everyone that watches this movie is a fighter pilot.

I'm glad you guys noticed what I did about their training. They simulated a route that they have to take for the actual mission, but they're also flying in a canyon during practice. So did they just happen to find a canyon that is exactly the same as the one for the mission and required the exact same maneuvers? And if that's the case, how did they hit a wall in the simulated one and not die for real?

Edit: Okay, another thing! When Maverick says they're going to pull a 9 G climb out of the crater and it will likely bend their airframe, how are they practicing it without, you know, bending the fucking airframe? Are they just sacrificing dozens of F-18's to attempt this?

"You can do it if you HAVE to, but you don't PLAN TO."

A statement that applies to so much of life.

Mover: right back to GLOC. Love it. You guys do a great job keeping it funny and teaching us along the way.

Loved the movie, love jets and love you guys. Ever since I was a kid, every time F111s and now F18s or F35s fly by my place (in Australia) I run outside hoping to see them, so just being able to jump on YouTube now and hear thoughts from actual fighter pilots is so cool. The best side of the internet right here. Wanted to say thanks for making all these videos, there are so many little things that we just wouldn't know without actual pilots explaining them, it's great.

This is comedy gold. I love it

Phoenix: "Sir, is this even achieveble?"
Mover: "No. It's stupid."

Roll the credits!

Was an F-15 crew chief. I know that our base we lost a 15 on takeoff from a bird going in intake. I’ve seen a video of a 16 going down from a bird strike. They do happen all the time and when they go in the intake, a big inspection on the engine has to be done. Usually a bunch of blades get damaged and need to be filed or replaced.
