I still remember the Melee days of having to either play VS for 20 hours or do 700 matches to unlock Mewtwo. Cheesed it by setting a match on endless, went on about my day, then ended the match and did a single stick match to get a completion. Boom...NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS!! Then mewtwo was unlocked.

So by now you’re probably already trying the one stock method that many guides online and videos have instructed. By now you also may of notest it isn’t working, after the update self destructing in a one stock match no longer prompts the new challenger. Instead simply change the stock count to 3 instead of 1, self destruct, win the challenger fight, restart the application, profit. NOTE: I haven’t tried changing to the stock to 2, simply realized that 3 worked after I set it to three coincidentally. Have fun everyone, see you online!

1 stock, stage hazards off, 10min time limit, mario bros. Stage, 2 players, player 1(sonic or anyone), dash left, tape joystick down, and there you have great distance stats to unlock everyone 1 by 1.

If I unlock a character is classic mode, then try and SD in a normal smash, will another challenger appear, or will the 10 min restriction be in place? If I could, I’d like to alternate between having fun and cheesing unlocks.

the fastest way ive found is playing World of Light and exiting the game every 10 minutes or so because you get a challenger after you play for a bit. its just as fast as playing normal on top of also unlocking things from the Story. so in reality your getting the characters faster.

I picked up the game during midnight launch at 11:30 PM, and since it's the weekend I got to grind all night and most of the day too. I've already unlocked most of the roster. My first character was F-Zero pilot #07: Caption Falcon, and my most recent character was King DEDEDE.

I have unlocked all 4 of the Nintendo 64 vets, and I also have all of the newcomers that just joined the series. And all I've pretty much done so far it's just play the game in general play all kinds of different modes and use different characters defeat Spirits beat classic Mode on different difficulties and MOB battle too. The game is lots of fun from both a laid-back casual fun perspective and a competitive perspective as well too. I really do feel a deaf team worked really hard to try and make us the Perfect Blend within the series and so far I think it's succeeding greatly. Unlike most I'm actually really looking forward to playing piranha plant when it releases later on next year in early 2019. (Yay for Free bonus character!)

you could also do a 10 minute time match (sure it will take some time but you will unlock everyone in time)
