This video is produced by Millennials of Singapore as part of our series about learning for life, featuring stories and insights from our contributors.

Dew reconnects with his form teacher in secondary school. It was this teacher, Mr Tham, who looked out for him and helped him stay in school. In this video, Dew Looks back on his school days, and gets the chance to thank his former teacher after all these years: "Mr Tham was one of the first few people that allowed me to expand my mind in other things, apart from academics. Always reminding us that we always have that something special in us, we just don't know it yet. And I think without you, we will never have graduated."

So cute! Cool teacher. That’s how education should be like, it’s a new world now. They were ahead of the game.

Your teacher is great! I know CP Tham as a teacher as well but for a professional course. He is indeed always candid and generous in sharing info with us, also v generous in buying coffee for us. CP always goes all the way out to help others.

Dew, I am really glad to watch this video. Being mother of 21 yo n 16 yo sons, I still face challenges in encouraging and motivating them to put in their best, difficult to convince them not to give up easily.

Wishing you guys all the best!😊

I am so happy to see you and ur teacher hvng a good bonding. I am a introvert, so non of my teacher/lecturer remembers me ._. They always forget about me, so when i see them on the street, i dont say hi to them:)

At the end education in Singapore is not always about academic. As a foreigner in Singapore, I can testify to that.

I remember one primary school teacher that did the same to me, she never gave up on any one of us. I also remember another two idiots who say im useless. So good or bad, teachers impact your life forever.
