Conflict of Nations sponsoring every review of this movie is the greatest marketing play ever

The sound production and design was immaculate, this was the most REAL sounding gunfire I've heard in a movie, souds like you're at the actual range

Jesse Plemons Fun Fact: He was a last minute replacement for this film. Nobody wanted this part really, and the guy who was gonna play the role dropped out sick. Kirsten told Alex hey, Jesse's here with our kids, soooo? 😁 And Jesse went to local thrift stores and grabbed a bunch of sunglasses and stuff for Alex to choose from when he did the lines. Alex was sold and Jesse was most definitely probably better than whoever called in sick. Edit: For clarity, Jesse is married to Kirsten in case you didn't know.

A modern Civil War movie, released in an election year.
Couldn’t get more opportune timing than that.

One thing that hit me hard about this movie was the sound design. I’ve never heard gunfire in a movie sound like it’s supposed to until this movie. Every shot has reverb and perfect echo for its environment. The impact of the rounds holds energy throughout. It took me to a place in my head that I haven’t seen since I was in the military.

Releasing this movie on April 12th. The day the American Civil War started in 1861. Nice touch.

Just realized I’ve been watching you for over 10 years. Glad I can count on you on everything I want to see. My favorite movie critic of all time.

"Walking Dead with no Zombies" - perfect description, just mass chaos ensuing. Another banger!

This would never happen under President Comacho.

I can't get over that they were just driving around unarmed. Yes they're journalists but they have the right to defend themselves. They don't even have a medical kit for Sam. They give him no first aid! Thanks friends!

The most unrealistic part is that, if it were a modern civil war, Sydney Sweeney would be plastered on the nose of every bomber like the cartoon chicks in WW2

That might be the funniest sponsor ad ever on this channel.

The most unrealistic part about this is the fact that the president isn't 102 years old but instead closer to an actual average American.

HBO made a movie in 1997 called "The Second Civil War" which was told by news reporters. James Earl Jones mostly, with Denis Leary and a lot of other actors/actresses. This movie just added some more fights. But it's the same movie HBO made in 97.

The beautiful thing about thriller movies is the sense of dread of the unknown. Films like Sicario and Sicario: Day of the Soldado do an excellent job at building up the tension and keeping the audience guessing with anxiety for what comes next. I’ve only watched one of Alex Garland’s films, annihilation, and I loved it! I can’t wait to watch Civil War, and I hope it does give me the suspense Sicario did.

You mentioning the shock of the image is what makes this movie so amazing to me.

The power of journalistic photography even in film where sounds, explosions and vfx are trumped by the black and white photos edited in.

The neutrality whether it’s for the world or against the world and if all that spectacle capturing is actually helping anyone.

The fighting scenes not being thrilling but more frightening and the grayness of it all is just so great. Yeah the apoliticism can be described as “cowardly” but fuck trying to teach something to people when they probably don’t want to hear it. Fuck your sides, that’s literally why it’s following the journalists.
