I imagine that politics alone will not be enough to set such violence in motion but that some stress like hunger or severe financial loss would probably be involved. Hunger will drive people more than ideology by a wide margin.

I spent a few years in Tikrit and Sadr City, Iraq, and I can tell you that war is horrible. I pray it never comes home to the US. Thanks for the succinct, timely review, Chris. I also saw it, and the "What kind of American" question was chilling.

"War. What's it good for? Absolutely NOTHING!" Say it again!

"When words like unity or compromise are triggering" pretty much says it all. We have way too many who do this today and a system that promotes divisiveness. Sad

I pray Civil War never comes to our country again. I pray our country can come together and put our differences aside. A real civil war would be much, much worse than what is depicted in this movie.

wow you're the first reviewer i've seen who addresses that this movie is a blank slate that is a mirror which reveals the viewer's worldview and ideology based on what they take away from it

I hope that anytime someone puts any kind of prepping word choice into a search engine including youtube they are brought directly to your channel. You are the voice that this prepping movement needs. Your integrity, level headedness, and solid info is what people looking for this kind of content need to hear. Keep up the good work and thank you!

I saw the movie this afternoon. I agree with your assessment. It really made me stop and ask instead of getting only getting ready for the shtf, shouldn’t I be working to mend fences where ever I can? I am a realist and understand that I can’t change the world. However, I can do a better job of the things I do have influence over. I really don’t want to be satisfied with the idea that what will be, will be. We were created for more than that.

As always I really appreciate the message you’re spreading Kris! It’s a refreshing change from those stoking the flames of division and discontent

Hey, Kris! I'm so glad you reviewed this. My husband and I saw this on Friday night. He hated it. I can't say I 'liked' it, but I'm glad I saw it. I was actually thinking of YOU as I watched the movie because you have often said on this channel that civil war is NOT what many people think it is and that recovering from a full on civil war is not a matter of months or even a couple of years. As you say, There are NO winners. My single take away from the movie was this: Don't let this happen to you. Nothing more and nothing less. I didn't feel there was enough substance to the film to make a more nuanced opinion. I took it to be a warning. But on the whole, as an example of powerful fell short.

Civil War can happen anywhere at any time when the catalyst of social unrest due to many factors happen at once or in a chain to put stress on a society. History has shown most civil wars start slowly and small then expand and engulf the many. LONG LIVE THIS GREAT REPUBLIC!!! If we can keep it.

I saw the movie last night and expected at least some context and storyline and characters I could care about: I got none of those so all the movie provided was a lot of violence with absolutely no explanation or exploration of why.

I haven't seen this movie yet. I have seen in a peripheral way the results of civil war as a young Marine guard at San Onefre, Camp Pendleton, California in the Vietnamese and Cambodian refugee camps shortly after Saigon fell in 1975. I was only there for a few weeks but hearing the stories from the adults and children are stories you don't forget. The Cambodians were much harder to communicate with as they were much younger males that looked and acted like they had to shoot their way out of where ever they came from. They were, I believe, Khmer Republic facing the Khmer Rouge. See the Movie "The Killing Fields" based on a true story. A Civil War in the US is something I think the press highlights more than what the general population thinks will happen. Most of the people profiled rioting in the streets is a small fraction of either political party. They have to have a headline to get people to watch or read. Still the division on TV and among friends and family is greater than I have seen in my lifetime.
A civil war in the US would have no real "winners".
Prep for yourself and to help family friends and neighbors as a way of normal life not in a panic and not with the intention of being against "Them". However being ready for the actual bad guys that show up during catastrophe and civil unrest is just being smart.

Thank you for this. I felt the same. Me personally will not be part of any civil unrest. Ill be focused on protecting and provide for my family!

As a PTSD psychologist who currently works with refugees, I was floored at how accurate the portrayal of internal unrest/war was in Civil War. I assume they consulted with refugees to develop narratives and images because it almost perfectly reflects the stories and experiences of my clients from Afghanistan, Iraq, Ethiopia, Sudan, CAR…. Excellent movie and I hope people take the right message.

In civil war, everyone loses.

I recommend "Bushwick" if you want to see more on how civil war would play out.
