Andrew Huberman shares a science-based tool called N.E.A.T. that can have a significant impact on fat loss. It stands for Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis and, like it sounds, it doesn’t involve any exercise!

This video is a condensed and highly edited version of the full 114 minute podcast from @HubermanLab. We highly recommend watching the full episode and following the pod.

Andrew D. Huberman is an American neuroscientist and tenured associate professor in the department of neurobiology and psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine.

I worked with a woman who fits the 'Fidget Profile', and she ate food like she was going on a trek into the mountains, but was tremendously slim and a real mover & shaker..all day long! 😊

So, when our parents, relatives and teachers used to tell us "STOP FIDGETING!" they did us no favour...!

Hence why vibration plate is a valuable addition to my exercise equipment. Also great for bone and joint health.

SO: Any effort is better than no effort. And every movement that we create with our body its still exercise but not in the sports point of view. You can clean the house, you can dance, you can walk, you can do the minimal stand up and seat on and from a chair and so on....

So we're talking about nervous, anxious people with a constant higher heartrate. No rest in their system. No thanks, I rather eat a donut less and keep my calm and peace. Slowly bouncing my head to a nice song 😅

❤ the information. Please ignore the naysayers.

Since I retired, despite ‘formal’ training, I am a slug in the afternoons and struggle to keep weight down. Will start with baby steps to try this out! ❤❤❤❤

I am that. I eat a lot and I'm thin. The chronometer confirms that I eat a lot, yet I am 65 kg and 185 cm tall. What is characteristic for me is that I am nervous, I constantly fidget, jump with my legs while sitting, some part of my body is constantly in motion. And also, I'm tense, my muscles are tight. In order to increase my body mass, which I did once experimentally, I had to increase my calories to at least 3500kcal... Of course, it is extremely exhausting, and I wish I could eliminate it...

Thank you so much for quoting the source material, and providing the source video link in the chat; so many reposters (of good material) fail to do this, so it is much appreciated!

Im totally convinced that this could be true. My dad never exercised - he always drove around in the car - and had a truly hearty appetite - he was 1.90 meters tall and slim, never gained weight. Buuuut when he sat down he would cross his legs and the top one would constantly bob up and down -

As a horse owner it's always been well known that if your horse needs to lose weight over winter, dont rug, leave the animal to shiver

Fidgeters are more likely to be in a calorie surplus which is why they have the extra energy to fidget. Once you begin a deficit, the extra movements of fidgeting tend to reside as your body becomes acclimated to the deficit to conserve energy.
