Показать описание
Non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT) refers to the energy expenditure of all physical activities other than deliberate exercise. This includes activities such as fidgeting, standing, walking, and other daily activities. NEAT can have a significant impact on overall energy expenditure and can contribute to weight loss, depending on the level of activity.

In this video, a neuroscientist talks about how fidgeting is a good way to burn calories.

Andrew Huberman is a neuroscientist who specializes in the field of visual system neurobiology and is currently an Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a well-regarded researcher in leading scientific journals and is well respected in the field of neuroscience.

These videos about NEAT make me think about my toddler b/c he NEVER sits still. He's always kicking a leg, tapping something, raising his feet in the air, randomly jumps, he runs EVERYWHERE, also in a head standing phase at the moment. If I did all that, I'd be able to drink juice, eat fruit snacks and bacon without gaining fat too!

NEAT is like the Turtle(slow but goes a long way) and Exercise is like the Hare(fast but can't sustain too long)

Sounds like people with underlying anxieties and neuroses burn more calories.

Angular movement? I don't think the angularity is relevant. Probably exaggerated movement.

If fidgeting helped people lose weight, I'd be 80 pounds. It doesn't work

Overeat? Or eat a lot, often poor food choices. I'm grateful that's not me, when their eating habits catch up to them and they have to figure food out, usually with doctors that know meds not health. I know a few, they're confused, and of chubby me obviously knows nothing.
