Bucket handle meniscus tears are more painful then others but they are often repairable because it is located near a good blood supply.

Tore my lateral on Feb 26, had surgery on March 15 to repair it. All I can say is be prepared for pain. Lots of muscle cramps and spams as well since your leg is locked in a brace and you can't bend it. Oxycodone is your friend but not shitting for 4 days kind of sucks. Be prepared for uncomfortable sleeping too since it's difficult to get comfortable. I guess what I'm saying is take care of your knees. You don't want to go through this.

Got surgery on this four days ago (Thursday) It is now Monday. Prepare for pain and immobility for at least the first two days. After that, it gets a little easier.

First 2 days ull have extreme pain then the pain will start reducing gradually, then physiotherapy will start and gradually he will bend the knee from 30 to 60 to 90 to 120 degrees there will be pain for sure but as soon as you are able to bend the knee recovery will be fast. Be ready for swelling that's normal it will take its own time to reduce don't worry about it. Be regular with the exercises as that's the only way you can recover fast. At times you will feel that you won't be able to walk again but you will for sure and time heals everything . I know it's a painful slow healing process but you have to deal with it when you will be normal you won't even remember that something happened to u . So keep positive and pass the time tahst all.

I'd prefer a 3d printed meniscus instead of stitches, I vote for stem cells and clones! lets turn this bucket into a beam of light.

This happened to me back in March of 2021 on a job site, the pain was horrible. I stood up wrong, twisted my knee wrong and it felt a crack, I even heard if. I’d rather be kicked in the nuts than relive that.

Fast forward to now(July 2023), I lived with it tore for all that time due to no health insurance. 95% of the time, I was fine, but 6X I had it shift out of place and between my femur and tibia.

I’m currently recovering from surgery, having it fixed 2 weeks ago, looking forward to having a stronger knee.

Take care of your knees, and be careful. This is a painful injury.

Thank you for this, I just got an MRI done recently, and I found out today that I have this and I had no idea what it was.

Anyone who's had this done what's your opinion? Do you still have problems with it?

Tore my meniscus kneeling down putting my sneakers on 😩 most stupid of way of doing it. Thank goodness I already got surgery done. First 3 days the pain post surgery was horrible. The leg brace is uncomfortable, can’t wait to be free again.

Had one of these on my left knee when I was surveying on a bridge under construction- the surgeon did a terrific job on it. I was able to drive my manual-trans Honda Civic four days later!!!

So, I just found out that I have a large lateral bucket tear that I've been babying since January and I need surgery 😢 I really, really didn't want to hear that

For anyone out there suffering from this injury who doesn't want to or cant get surgery.
I had many set backs but after almost a year it's finally healed.
The key for me is doing bodyweight exercises. Doing lots of Yoga and then doing heavy weights especially squats.
Just stick with it

just got MRI back and it came back as this. Weird because i have limited pain and swelling. I can even walk, run and cut without much pain at all. It Definitely feels a little weak but not as painful as people say. Doctor is recommending surgery, any thoughts

I had this happen to me, but the bucket handle part flipped and was pinched between my femur and tibia and my knee was stuck bent. Worst pain ever..

Thank you so much. Is it possible that this gets better by itself without any sugury?
