Thank you bro! This worked and now I am back in. Literally almost every Indian tutorial I watched is straight to the point and works like a charm!

Doesn't work!

I got to the recovery menu and clicked on root as stated.

However, after pressing enter to drop me down to "Give root password for maintenance (or press Control-D to continue): it doesn't go any further. I press enter and says the same thing "Give root password for maintenance (or press Control-D to continue): and it won't allow me to type anything other than the password that I don't know.

I'm guessing I have to reinstall the whole software???

For some reason it won't work because when I try the Shift and the ESC key it won't work it just brings me back to the login. and I don't know if the acer model is the issue because it is a acer laptop with the UBUNTU thing. so I don't know if that's the issue or if its just not working.

When I press Shift + ESC, the only thing that happens is that it shows me the start up commands and boots like normal. Can anyone help? I’m trying to log in to go back to windows because my deranged father installed something I didn’t want or need and deleted all my previous information.
