They are the greatest invention because of its versatility and portability--can be used to eat, pull apart food, beat eggs, mix or flip food, prop a pot lid slightly open, measure, as a hairpin, etc. Why own many utensils when a pair of chopsticks will do?

When I was about 8 yrs old my parents brought me home nice bamboo chopsticks from a nice restaurant. They put paper and rubber band on the top end so every one could use them, we live in Canada.
I would sit at the table for hours until I could eat 1 grain of rice at a time without any help.

Being of Dutch and Ukrainian background my Asian friends and their families were very impressed with my skill.
In all honesty to this day (being an adult) I get excited to eat with chopsticks 😊
