Why We Don't Get Green Lantern Movies

It's hilarious/depressing to me how the big wigs of Hollywood have no idea why a movie flops. "Green Lantern didn't do well? Eh must be a garbage superhero nobody likes."

When I was a kid, I actually liked the movie because I had no concept of it being bad CGI XD I was just like "Ooh~ This is fun" and that's it

Green lantern also has some of the coolest stories ever!! Not to mention his interactions with characters like the flash, Batman etc. are some of the best interactions and dialogues. Also when he’s not part of the team and justice league it genuinely feels off that’s something else I’ve noticed. A character shouldn’t be judged based off of one bad movie.

I don’t think the bad movie ruined our chances of getting another movie with him in it. He’s just not the most in demand character out there, and even in the comics they struggled to make his powers really work the way they should. I mean in theory his power is limitless but it’s kind of a puzzle to figure out how his imagination and intelligence would truly manifest. No matter what decisions they have him make there’s always a million different decisions that could be argued as being better. So he kind of is inherently going to seem stupid and unimaginative for not optimizing his impossible-to-optimize power

It wasn't actually that bad. Especially the scene where Hal says the green lantern oath to defeat the villain of the movie.

Advertising isn't usually included in the production budget. And that's usually 50-100 million. So GL actually cost the studio roughly 300 million total.

Add in the fact that the theaters get a percentage cut of the box office...Well, this movie was an absolute bomb for the studio.

Edit: Some of the cost might have been mitigated by tax credits depending on where it was filmed.

It wasn’t anything to do with the CGI or the acting it just simply was not written well . And the way they depicted Parallax was terrible . It would have been better if they had Hal Jordan battling Sinestro

Okay, the Green Lantern movie is not a bad movie. It’s certainly not great but it is definitely not the worst movie ever made. It’s not even the worst superhero movie ever made. Yeah, the CGI kinda sucks but it is not near as bad as people say it is.
