Got my first job the full stack route…I guess whatever works for the individual wins!

In linkedin all job offers are ''full stack'' with a long list of skills that you need at least 5years to master

Each to their own. I did full stack because I wanted to make useful projects. As long as you understand what’s going on (understanding how front ends make requests to APIs, making database changes, etc) at a high level, you should be good to start working on the backend.

Although, you can still make ‘full stack projects’ with little to no backend knowledge by using something like Firebase, employers would still be impressed

Full stack is just a way for people to pay you less for more work. Focus on what you can do. Let the job pay to have you trained in something else.

Don't worry! My skillset isn't getting any better.

... nah in college you learn both sides. definitely better to have full understanding of all aspects

You don't need to master the front end or the backend, or the full stack, to get your first job. You don't have to master anything. Study what you want, and learn how to market yourself.

Do you like working with the front-end and hate the backend? Study the front end.

Do you like the backend and hate the front end? Study the backend

Do you like both and hate being limited to either one? Study full stack.

This Short totally misses the mark

Hard disagree, especially in this economy. You should absolutely be capable of working across the entire stack. You can focus on one or the other. But if you just don't know one of them, you are at a massive disadvantage.

Thank you Mr for the advice, I'm trying to take Meta Frontend Certificate and I hope this could get me an internship and then work as a frontend developer. InshaAllah.

I got my first full stack job a couple of years ago with no tech experience and little knowledge, no personal projects and at a good salary. I say just go full throttle and chase what you want be

yh, but my entire plan was to go to back-end since it's my real goal. and I'm using the "stupid" front-end just to get job in the first place.

Thank you for saying this. I think I am getting stuck in the long-term view. I'll definitely pick and stick to one area.

I cannot even code anymore, barely scripting or back end

I don't understand nothing and don't get a job in my field. In my country the company work more with C# than C.

Nice but I got my job by doing full stack
Right now the learning curve got way steeper than what used to be maybe in your times and AI gonna make it worse
So yeah gotta work harder
