The home teleporter deals damage, but even if you’re at half a heart, and it triggers and you die, you can respawn and you can pick those dropped items at the teleporter.

Corus fruits are incredibly useful because they can teleport a pretty much infinite distance on the y axis to save you. For instance, one of my favorite things to do if you are running away from someone in the sky is to fly up in the air a few hundred blocks and eat one. You will instantly appear on the ground and can make your escape. Another neat trick if you don't have an elytra is to swim down to to the bottom of a lake bed or in a small cave and it might teleport you way underground where your pursuer can't find you.

I use a minimap mod for the coords but this is still really helpful!

Another one I think that can work, I'm not completely sure is that warped vines can be place on all (if not most) blocks- it's like a water clutch but for the nether and it'll be more helpful when you've already fallen

Honestly that's not such a bad idea!!

But if I am exploring etc, I mostly use a lodestone to come back to my base.
In the 1.16 update, they added lodestone, which is a LOT beneficial if ur going exploring.

It made compasses really useful! Basically if you right click on a lodestone using a compass, u will mark that block as the fixed cordinate of the compass. Although the downside is that it costs 1 netherite ingot
