As thousands of students get ready to receive their A-level results, many will consider heading to university. But with universities strapped for cash and offering what some would call ‘Micky Mouse’ degrees that don’t lead to any job offers, is it really worth it?

Kamal and guest co-host Camilla Turner speak to Robert Halfon, former minister of state for skills, Apprenticeships, and Higher Education, about universities’ financial challenges and why degree apprenticeships are the way forward.

Plus, Senior Foreign Correspondent Roland Oliphant on the biggest development of the year in the Ukraine-Russia war and why Zelensky has caught Putin napping.

With grade inflation modern degrees and A levels are worthless with top awards just indicating an historical pass.

Useless degrees such as Modern Languages, Creative Writing and Film Studies should be closed for good. Such degrees are designed for the most incompetent and disengaged students (and taught by equally incompetent “professors”!).

Putin had his drawers pulled down and is stumbling uselessly around. Allies must remove conditions to aid Ukraine unconditionally!

It will be like in Japan... 98% of the population with university degree, most of them just considered requirement for anything but the most basic jobs, with graduate degrees taking the place of BAs as basic brain certificate.

That doesn't mean it's bad though, these people have still learned a lot and broadened their headspace. But in terms of employment, no.

Oh yuck! That telegraph working environment looks dry and boring. It has exactly the same feeling as a local bank in the 1980s. Just aching dry and painfully dull.

The Russian bear got hit in the teeth. Russia has not been able to defeat Ukraine for eleven years.

Meanwhile in reality a capture of Kursk NPP has always been just Zelenskyy pipe dream. Zelenskyy wasted 2, 300 troops KIA, 279 armored vehicles, 15 artillery systems, 4 anti-aircraft systems on this another PR misadventure that makes zero military sense while vital Ukrainian positions at the actual front are falling apart. The same nutty pattern with Bakhmut, Krinky or a publicly announced failed Zelenskyy offensive in 2023. Zelenskyy is the gift that keeps on giving to the Russians.
