Russia will have to deploy 'elite' troops to fight Ukraine's incursion in the Kursk region, as it will do "whatever it takes" to claim back Russian ground.

Security and defence analyst Professor Michael Clarke has told Sky News the incursion is "getting bigger" and "seems to be 30 miles long and around 18 miles deep" which in military terms is "pretty big".

He said the battle will be measured "in days and weeks not weeks and months".

What it takes is for Russia to stop the war, and just leave Ukraine alone.

Ukraine just took more territory in the last 5 days than Russia managed in the last year. Incredible stuff. Russia has thoroughly humiliated itself.

There are now many people who speak Ukrainian in Kursk, there should be a referendum to free Kursk from Russia. Glad to see Ukraine is de-nazifying Russia.

Well actually, all the Russians have to do to get Kursk back is GTFO of Ukraine. Not hard.

The Ukraine has caused a stir, raised morale, taken prisoners. Even if they now withdraw again, they could inflict heavy losses on the Russian troops again.

Ukraine now has 720km2 of Russian land, this is more than double the amount of gains that Russia has made in the last year. Total embarassment for the pitiful Russian state

What comes around, goes around.
1) Moldova should take back Transnistria from russia.
2) Georgia should take back their "breakaway" regions from russia.
3) Japan should take back the four southernmost Kuril Islands from russia.
4) Findland should take back their land from russia.
5) Germany should take back Kaliningrad [Königsberg] from russia.
Notice the common denominator above? Yes, russia (coRUPsia)

Western Media blinders:
1) The Department of State made a determination under the CBW Act that russia has used the chemical weapon chloropicrin against Ukrainian forces in violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Rarely was it mentioned in the news.
2) When Ukraine fights back, "possible escalation" becomes the media's new catch-phrase.
3) When Ukraine does something strategic that they did not tell the media or the U.S., the media is full of...."Why did they do that? Risky gamble? Can they really hold the area?"
4) Western media couldn't report themselves out of a box if they had

Ukraine badly miscalculated. It is a suicidal mission

This is PR and will definitely fail, the only solution is to negotiate, the notion that Russia will lose an existential battle is completely delusional

How the heck can anyone (least Clarke) be SO SURE about what will happen next? His previous predictions prove he can't be sure of anything.

The most important thing about the Kursk attack is not occupy those territories, it"s more to cause political and psychological effect on the Russian population. They will take significant amount of POW"s and eventually retreat. Even if Ukrainians are kicked out of Russia, the scar will remain. It is similar to what the North Vietnamese did to the US in the 1968 Tet Offensive during the Vietnam war. US civilians were told everything was going well in Vietnam until that offensive changed everything and people began to question the war.

Russia will NOT do whatever it takes. Russia will do whatever IT CAN. There is a vast difference between the two.
