Another positive to not cooking with oil is cleaning up dishes is a breeze!

I've been vegan for a few years now but just this past month went totally oil free. It was way easier than I thought and I started feeling the benefits almost immediately. I have endometriosis and was born without my esophagus formed and have had multiple surgeries. Going oil free has helped me so much with inflammation, pain, bloating related to my gi and endo problems.

One month vegan, thanks to your videos, you have made the transition easy and fun. While doing food prep i have your videos on which makes it go quicker. I have lived with depression for 28ys and within 4days my mood was improved. I also quit coffee and dairy the same day. I just wanted to really thank you for helping me change my life, and headspace. Sending gratitude from Australia.

Just started plant based 6 days ago and loving it so far. Started it in an attempt to get lean after 58 years. I was working out and hit a spot where I just couldn't get the numbers to move. Started research on plant based eating and figured it would help by simply reducing my caloric intake if nothing else. I stumbled on your vids looking for ways to kick things up a notch. Never considered how much the oil made a difference. Great results so far, lets see how eliminating oil helps. Thanks for the advice!

I've recently converted to no oil in cooking and it's amazing. Food tastes so much better. I feared the veggies will be dry and burnt, but they super juicy and full of flavor. Well done on healthy cooking and thank you for sharing your recipes! As someone mentioned before, doing dishes is way easier, a light rinse - done!

Not sure if someone mentioned already but you can toss your yam fries with corn starch and your choice of spices for crispier yam fries.

I recently started to cook without oil and I realized two things: 1.) waste of money buying oil 2.) I realized how pointless it was

Eating at home without oil is easy. Eating out is nearly impossible.

Of all the people i've seen, this guy has the most adorable eyes, like a cute little puppy :o Can't help but notice, being at the center of the screen and all.

12:00 Derek burning his mouth has become a trademark of his videos. Also, watching you interrupt your own talking by nibbling on food is really funny.

I've been vegetarian since 1996 and went vegan recently. I also cut out processed sugar. I'm glad I found sites like yours that inform me about topics such as this video. I was always led to believe olive oil is a good fat. I'm doing without as much as possible now. Thanks 🙂

I have cut back maybe 90% on oil but I still use a little cold pressed avocado oil and sesame oil for asian recipes for flavor on rare occasions.

Indoors I am oil-free and added sugar free (my exception is I do enjoy maple syrup on popcorn rarely). I have avoided silicon mats for baking so far. I couldn't find safety research on them for baking, so I have stuck to using paper myself.
I also do not limit myself when I eat out (which isn't often).
Another exception is if something new comes out, I may buy it and cook it at home, so I might try a new burger (I recently tried the beyond meat burger for the first time), I like to keep up with new stuff, but I do not buy stuff like that regularly, just as a test to see what new stuff people have dreamed up. 90% of the time cook everything for scratch...

I use cast iron to brown or sear (like tofu) and put the oil on the pan AFTER I use and clean it then wipe it out and heat the pan to evaporate any left overs. As a result the pan is non stick without any additional oil at the beginning. I am sure I am ingesting some of it but it is far less and I still get the caramelization.

The other night I made a cashew sauce for baked potatoes. 1 1/2 cups cashews, a little over a cup of water (to whatever consistency you like), dill, a little salt, black pepper, a little turmeric, and some lime juice. Blended it in the Vitamix and done. Came up with it extemporaneously as I wanted something on the potatoes. Turned out to be the best topping for baked potatoes I’ve ever had. Nice and creamy and flavorful. We had lentils as well and the sauce was good on them. Had some sauce left over and put it in the fridge. Turned out it makes a great veggie dip. There was still some residual sauce in the container and I mopped it up with a spring mix of greens and turned out to make a really great salad dressing. And it took less than 5 minutes to make.
