It still amazes me you can legally drive one of these with a standard drivers license. This is how it feels to drive a 26-foot U-Haul moving van. With a Ford V-10.

This video was filmed with in-ear, binaural microphones, so if you listen with headphones, it will sound like you're sitting in the driver's seat!

I just drove one for 370 miles. As a class B driver. This thing drives amazingly well.

You’ve never driven a u-haul until you’re flooring it to maintain 65 up the ozarks with a full load and a car trailer

As a class, A driver I generally stay away from big Uhaul trucks anyone with a credit card and a driver's license is free to terrorize the highway but you left a respectable following distance for the vehicle size and maintained a good speed with lane control

If you're driving a large vehicle, particularly one without a rearview mirror, try to avoid reversing in a busy area. Making sure you have a way out ahead is always easier and safer than trying to find a way by backing out or making multipoint turns.

Nice surprise review...85k rental miles and the interior still looks new. And it has a physical button/switch for every control! Nothing fancy, It has no piano black but she could haul a piano or two in the back.

“You have a first and last name and we saw you pull up in a civic. Sounds like you’re qualified to drive a 26’ box truck” 😂

Charlie, Here is a fun fact for you, every U-Haul vehicle in Canada also has an Arizona license pate. 🤔

I recently did a long move with heavy load with one of these trucks. My tips:

(1) Climbing hills with full load: When approaching a hill, give a lot of gas near the bottom to build up speed prior to hitting the foot of the hill. For shorter hills, you can probably get up without bogging down. With longer hills, at least you'll get up a lot further before having to floor the engine and only do some 40mph speed or lower while burning up your fuel at prodigious rates.

(2) Descending hills with full load: ease off the gas a lot before descending the crest of the hill. Because if you approach with too much speed, the engine brake will likely come for most of the descent and waste a lot of potential energy. So, if the speed limit is 65mph, I'd even let off the gas and coast to 45mph to the crest of the hill and let gravity pull me down without getting into energy wasting engine braking. Every driver I encountered gave me room to do these maneuvers as they can see how large this truck is from a mile away.

(3) Use a GoPro or Insta360 camera with built-in Bluetooth wireless live view on your smartphone when backing up. Can place the camera strategically for 3rd person side view and have your phone mounted on the dash. Ideally its best to have a spotter but the camera can do in a pinch. Can even have both spotter and camera. Do everything slowly when backing up. The side profile view for backing up was especially useful and probably better than a spotter.

I drove one of these this weekend I have a class a CDL. These things handle better than most trucks I've driven.

I'm still surprised they just handed me the keys and let me go with no previous experience driving a vehicle of this size

Not gonna lie this is really entertaining to watch, hearing that V10 roar.

When this truck is under 26, 000 lbs, a CDL is not required to drive it, but if it is over 26, 000 lbs, that's when you will be required to have one.

Drove this thing 3.5 hours today. Pretty impressive machine. The sheer scale of design and engineering is incredible.

Shifting down going downhill immediately shoots up to like 4, 000 RPMs. Sounds like it’s going to explode so I didn’t do that again.

I remember driving one of these, while hauling a truck on a trailer, within the first month of having a license at 16! I'm 21 now and haven't driven anything that big since.
