What Fits in a 20' Moving Truck

When deciding what size moving truck you need for your move, it's important to evaluate all the belongings you have. Do you know what fits in your 20 foot U-Haul truck rental? Get an idea of what fits inside a moving truck in this video.

To give you some idea if you have a lot of items. I rented a 15 footer and placed approximately 100 small size boxes from walmart Penn/gear brand. Also approximately 25 medium pen&gear boxes, walking mower, porch average set two person patio chairs/cushions, table, shovels, rakes, garden equipment, approximately 30 medium to large plastic totes full of tools, garage stuff, and I also added a variety of items and more boxed from inside the house. I jam packed it. There is no way I could have placed my heavy furniture and appliances in it along with everything else I had. I am renting another 15 footer for tomorrow that won't be so full but it will contain more boxes, small furnishings, wall decor, etc. In another couple of days, I will be renting a 20 footer for the sofa and loveseat, recliner, two living chairs, dining table-two chairs-two benches, mattress, large bed-headboard, dresser, nightstand, small chest freezer, washer/dryer, office desk, large long cubby cabinet, small chest of drawers, large sq outdoor patio table, 4 tv's, two tv cabinets, and more odd and ends. If you have a full house of 1500 to 2000 sq foot, you'll need every inch of the 20 footer and I would suggest the 26 footer, especially if you have a lot of boxes and totes. Once you put cabinets and dressers in the truck, you can stuff the drawers with smaller items.

Realistically speaking people have a lot more bulky furniture than they show in these videos. I’ve watched this 20’ and the 15’ video and while I’m impressed with the number of boxes I really need to know if my furniture will fit.. boxes can fit into my car

Please keep in mind that they are professionals, so they know how to efficiently maximize the space. Rent the truck, hire the movers to load and unload the truck.

Damn they got a lot in a 20 footer! I’ll be picking one of those up this week for our move. Vid was helpful. Fortunately our living room set, dining set, kitchen appliances, and washer/dryer won’t be making the journey. Should open up a lot of space.

This truck was quite fine with as we were moving from Fairbanks Alaska to Anchorage Alaska and I was also towing my car behind it and this was a very great truck to use
