If you use multiple Windows computers and want to have your desktop, documents and pictures synchronized between your devices, you can use the built in Windows backup\sync via OneDrive to have all of your files and folders kept up to data on all of your computers. You will need to log in with the same Microsoft account on each computer to have this happen though.

Check out our book titled Windows 11 Made Easy and take your Windows skills to the next level!

Enjoyed this - right level of detail for me. Like the fact that you had your cursor highlighted so I could see and follow it. Most people creating content forget this. Only negative is that your voice tapers off. Had my PC on battery outside so using its own speakers at max. vol. Might want to speak up or get closer. My hearing is still very good but others - maybe not. Thanks. Brewster

Great video and explanation.

When setting up a new computer, it has its own "Desktop, Documents, and Pictures" folders. How does the old and new computer know what is what?

For example, The "Desktop" folder has a lot of links to installed applications, the new one doesn't. Also the new one has it's own installed apps. Does everything just get copied into one desktop folder?
Thanks

Hi, everything was working between all my computers both from my office and from home, and it was nice to see all of my icons on my desktops all the same, then it stopped working. All of the computers say they are synced but some of my computers show the same old files from last month. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Vic

Great video, I do have a question though What if you have your two separate computers and on each computer you have exactly the same name folders but with different items in them? Is there a way or maybe even a third party program or something within Microsoft itself that will help me to combine all of those folders that are named the same but have the different items in them?

The backup folders (Documents, Pictures..) chosen on the main PC will have these folders checkboxes checked and greyed out under OneDrive "Choose Folders" settings on the main PC. Right?

I work from home on a helpdesk. I login to 20 pc's a day at least and sometimes as myself which causes onedrive to sync with all of them. ITS HORRIBLE. is there a way to stop it from syncing to all but my own laptop? Also, I have offices that have people that bounce around and similar to me login to around 1-5 pc's a day. i need to stop all the syncing. please help.

What if I want to disconnect my old pc after syncing my files to my new pc via Onedrive? My new pc icons look like clouds until I open them. If I disconnect my old pc from the cloud, I think I will lose everything on my new pc, correct? I am so frustrated.

- Be aware: "Deleted online-only file (OneDrive online only icon) will not appear in your computer's Recycle Bin or Trash.
- Be aware that only the Online Webversion of OneDrive has an recycle bin (folder)
To restore files and or folders - go to the Recycle Bin and open it, select the files or folders you want to recover, then right-click them and select Restore. The file or folder will be restored to its original folder.

What will happen if I lost my PC and someone log in to my pc and delete all one drive files? Will I lose all on my other devices?
