In this video Zane from Simple Green Tech does an USB audio interface setup for beginners demonstration going over how to connect an audio interface to your computer and how to connect a microphone to your audio interface along with instruments and studio monitors. I also show you how to setup your audio interface in your DAW so you can start recording in your home studio right away. I hope this helps you on your journey into home studio music production. The USB audio interface that I use for this video is the popular Focusrite 2i2 but the things I show you will work with pretty much every audio interface.

yeah i got an M-Audio m track duo and it's very similar to that one in the video but i'm gonna have to upgrade once i have multiple people playing at once, so I'll upgrade to an 8 input interface when i can afford one.

But you did not explain what the difference is between "Line" and "Inst" and which one to use for recording a hardware synth, nor how to connect MIDI to record both audio and MIDI simultaneously via the audio interface. An updated video with these topics would be much appreciated.
