The Communist Party of China has just held its 20th National Congress. We will all remember the images of former President Hu Jintao being escorted from its closing session, but more importantly, it has been a demonstration of power by Xi Jinping, who has won a third term to preside over China until 2028. So the question is: Why is Xi Jinping a revolutionary change for Chinese politics? How has he managed to strengthen his power even after the coronavirus crisis? In this video we tell you.

The two-term limit was not an "unwritten rule." It was in the constitution, which was amended in a previous meeting so that Xi could be rere-elected.

In a system's like China's it was really only a matter of time before someone made a bid of total control. There's a reason why democracies have been so obsessed with checks and balances - because trying to seize power is a very human impulse.

I have no doubt Xi will hold power for the rest of his life ... but given he's decided on living in "interesting times", that could be much shorter than he planned.

Two term limit wasn't an "unwritten rule". It was written, Xi overwrote it.

The thing that this video neglected to mention that there is currently two power blocks currently fightening for dominance within the CCP. one is led former leader Jiang Zemin and the other Xi Jinping. Jiang Zemin had unparallaled influence over the country so much that he reduced Hu Jintao into a figurehead. hence why Hu at the end of his term allied with Xi to help him get into top position. once Xi became president he started anti corruption drives meant to purge Jiang's loyalists from the various levers of state power especially in the police force (who have a higher funding than the chinese military). Xi went with a machete and cleaned so many areas of Jiangs people until he was confirmed for a second term and then redoubled his efforts until secured another third term last october. make no mistake Xi and Jiang battles fought in the shadows are more vicious than the ones you see in USA between the dems and repubs.
And Xi cementing his power solidified his position to continue his ambitious economic projects unimpeded by the veto power of the party.

I love how your cover art accurately shows Xi with basically no eyebrows. That's why he looks so creepy. In fact, he may have hauled away Hu Jintao because he was jealous of Hu's full, bushy eyebrows.

Maybe Xi's lack of eyebrows is a deliberate attempt to prevent us from figuring out his emotions from his facial expressions so as to guess what he's thinking.

I feel that when it's Xi's turn, he will have a really hard fall and it won't be pretty. His enemies will destroy him.

The question is not who is xijinping but why is xijinping

I’m not sure if I’m more scared of what happens when xi is alive or when he dies and leaves a power vacuum.

Thank you so much for this roast-- I mean quote. This will fit me like a glove and I can't wait to use it against my Chinese friends 🤣

The most basic, most fundamental question, that everyone asks is "Why bother?!". If they don't receive a positive answer they don't bother - they "Lay down".
